It's that time of year again in the States, where families gather together in their homes over a ridiculous amount of food, awkwardly stare at each other, and catch them up on the tedium in each other's lives. Most families have the tradition of sharing a thing or two that their thankful for in their lives with everyone staring as they speak.

No Caption Provided

While we'll save you from what we're thankful for, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at what some of our favorite super-heroes are thankful for this year and even let you folks know what some of these characters have been up to the past few months. Let's take a look into the comic book universe to see what some of the coolest characters are thankful for!

Batman

No Caption Provided

Batman's often been seen as a loner. The truth is, he has a pretty big family. Because of the dangers in just being Batman, he's sometimes tried to keep them at arm's length. They even had a pretty big falling out (that sort of didn't last too long) in Death of the Family. So what does Batman have to be thankful for? When going off to Apokolips on his own to retrieve the body of Damian (which of course will be another thing to be thankful for next year), the rest of his family (Jason Todd, Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake along with Titus and Cyborg) all followed him. He even complimented them on their semi-matching outfits. Batman actually gave a complement! Family is most important to Batman. He just can't always admit it.

Fantastic Four

No Caption Provided

After months of being in the red costumes, and everything seemingly falling apart, the members of the Fantastic Four, once again, embrace their past by returning to their blue costumes. In addition to that, the Fantastic Four is slowly reuniting after all going their separate ways. While they still have to get Reed Richards back from Eden, Sue, and a cast of others, did help Ben escape from prison after being wrongfully accused of murdering Puppet Master. Thanksgiving is all about family and this family will be celebrating together (except for Reed).

Wonder Woman

No Caption Provided

A lot has happened to Wonder Woman in recent months, and after numerous battles, she can finally settle down. She's had a long, epic battle with First Born, who killed Apollo, and after his defeat, Wonder Woman found both her mother and father were safe, and secretly hidden in the bodies of those close to her. This Thanksgiving, which they probably don't celebrate on Themyscira, Wonder Woman is thankful just to be with her family and that everyone is safe for now. Also, she's probably thankful to embrace her role as God of War. That's pretty awesome too.

Spider-Man

No Caption Provided

Spider-Man has had it pretty rough lately. After being defeated by Doc Ock and having his body stolen from him, he finally managed to get it back. That right there is plenty reason to be thankful. Then he found Silk, a woman who was present when he was first bitten by the radioactive spider and was also bitten. They've felt a strong attraction towards each other so Spidey can be thankful for that as well since his love life is always a bit of a mess. He may currently be facing death at the hands of Morlun and his siblings, the Inheritors, but thankfully they're only targeting Spider-folk from different dimensions. That means he doesn't have to worry about Aunt May or any of his friends or family being at risk. On top of that, he now pretty much has an army of allies from across the Spider-Verseand was told he was the greatest one of them all. For a guy that's always suffered the Parker Luck, that's a cool thing to hear.

X-O Manowar

No Caption Provided

Although Aric has been a massive amount of trauma in the past few years with being displaced in time and made into a slave by the Vine, he and his people, the Visigoths, now have their own claim of land in Nebraska and while they are all misplaced in time, they have each other. More importantly, Aric, along with some help from others in the Valiant Universe, stopped the Armor Hunters from destroying the Earth. Now, Aric has become the front lines in the battle against alien forces, if aliens happen to attack us. From enemy of the state to protector of the world? That's a pretty sweet promotion to be thankful for.

Superman

No Caption Provided

As the Last Son of Krypton and being so immensely powerful, Superman hasn't really been able to relate to anyone. Sure he may understand humans more than actual humans because of his upbringing and ideals, but with the loss of his adoptive parents at a young age, Superman really lived an isolated life. He was even kind of a jerk at times in his early days in action. Since getting to know Batman when the Justice League formed, we've seen his friendship with Bruce grow a little. More recently, he's formed a relationship with Wonder Woman. The two had a lot in common and have found solace in each other's arms. As powerful as Diana is herself, there isn't the risk factor involved should anyone discover their romantic relationship. Wonder Woman is more than capable of holding her own. The two can spend Thanksgiving together or perhaps they could just go out, holding hands, and stop whatever evil may rear its ugly head on the day of giving thanks.

Captain America

No Caption Provided

Although Steve Rogers is old now and the effects of the super-soldier serum are no more, it's not all a complete loss for the age-old Captain America. Long-time friend and ally, Sam Wilson AKA Falcon, has taken over the role. Steve must be proud and thankful to see one of his closest friends take his place, but let's try and forget the fact that the Inversion spell made Sam into a bit of a jerk. Now, Steve can relax a little bit and maybe catch up on the decades of reading he missed while being frozen in ice.

Hal Jordan

No Caption Provided

If there's one guy in the DCU who has it real rough, it's be Hal Jordan. The past few events have taken their toll on the guy and now with Godhead, he was a whole new batch of enemies, from outside his own universe, to handle. Luckily, Hal has some folks working with him and one of them is Sinestro. While working with Sinestro may not be his cup of tea, Hal sure is thankful they can come together for the greater good. On top of everything else, Hal learned that fellow Green Lantern (now a White Lantern), Kyle Rayner, is actually alive. However, Hal may not be too happy to learn who he shacked up with.

Jonah Hex

No Caption Provided

Jonah Hex is yet another character that's pretty much always been a loner. He's had some female companionship from time to time. One of the very few relationships that has actually meant something to him was with Tallulah Black. After taking a strange journey to the present, he got some plastic surgery on his face. When he came back, he ran into Tallulah again. Discovering someone was impersonating him, Jonah took care of him, leading people to believe that Jonah Hex was actually dead. This allowed Jonah (and Tallulah) to ride off into the sunset, able to start a new life, free from the past. Not many people are able to have a second chance at life.

So that's what some of the top tier super-heroes have to be thankful for this year (yes, we know Jonah isn't your typical super-hero but so what). Let us know what other heroes have reason to be thankful as well as what you folks are thankful for this Thanksgiving in the comment section below!

Superman for me have a great year for 2014. After almost 3 years since new 52 launch, Superman writers are bad but suddenly in 2014 DC realise hey we need to change new creative teams

this.

Cap is old, Thor got replaced, Wolverine is dead, Spiderman is facing hormonal mating issues and Tony became Captain douche.

It's a sad time to be an Avenger.

I'm sure Superman related and got on well with Lois for, oh 75 years, just fine. As for not relating, he doesn't relate to Diana either. Just because they're powerful doesn't make them automatically get on. "You're strong" what and interesting conversation. (Hint of sarcasm) Krypton may have made him Superman, but Earth made him Clark. Earth gives him his humanity, something Diana doesn't relate to, because guess what, that makes him human. He's lived his life as a human for 18 years prior to his parents death (The Kents). He's lived his life as Clark, not Superman. So how can a human not relate to humans? The New52 is one big contradiction. Hypocrisy piled on top of hypocrisy.

I'm sure Clark aka Superman would be much more happier and more thankful to be with his best friend, his northern star, his moral compass, the person he relates to more than anyone else because their mission is the same, his savior, his hero; Lois Lane.

Pretty much agree (even though I don't feel as strongly about this issue as others do) but expect a lot of flame to be directed your way.

I really like Red Hood and the Outlaws, and sadly haven't been keeping up on them, but I can just sit around today imagining Roy, Jason and Kori sitting around a table with a turkey laughing about one thing or another. I kind of want to see a picture of the now. Roy wearing an Indian head dress and Jason in a pilgrims hat. Kori wearing a bonnet.

I'm thankful that Tony gave some respect to Jonah Hex and included him among the A listers. Biggest loss to DC's roster of ongoings by taking Hex off the shelves. As much as I want him back, I'm happy with the way he was able to ride off into the sunset with Tallulah, and finally have some peace... I wouldn't complain if he he back though. :)

@lbrandgard: well kori is a hardcore drug addict right now, its not looking good. im sad that book took that turn i miss the crazy antics and wild adventures. The fun of that book is seeing how they come together and their wild decision making skills. Thats why i read the book, i dont get why they had to take the book down a grim path like THAT,

The worst pro-Diana argument I ever saw was on here. It amounted to Lois being a "ball buster" and not knowing how awesome Superman is and being as submissive as possible to him. ugh

@starbrand1: Oh. That really sucks. I need to get to a store soon to pick up some comics, get caught up. I really hope that her turn with drugs will go like Roy's did. She's addicted for a while, but gets it all figured out, except instead of having Killer Croc's help, I'd prefer to see her friends give her help.

Some best friend, if he won't even share his secret with her. That's one of the most egregious bits of lip service DC has been paying lately. And Clark and Lois' missions are anything but the same; the only thing that's the same is their profession. Also, Superman would be a pretty weak hero if his moral compass were a supporting character who doesn't have anywhere near his experience, can't provide much in the way of guidance other than the occasional facile pep talk and who, for all her qualities, isn't any more inspiring than your average spunky gal.

It's Superman who is the savior and hero to mankind, Lois included, not the other way around, in spite of some writers' attempts at clever turnabout over the years.

I'm not blaming anyone. I'm more then thankful for the epic run of well over a hundred amazing issues straight with the same writers. That's amazing for a Western comic. I'm also happy that Hex ended up with a happy(ish) ending, after seeing his death written so many times before.
