I find it weird that Marvel picked Ant-Man for a solo movie, I think he could of easily been introduced in Avengers.
Me personally I would've put Black Panter or Captain Marvel over him.
@_mongul: AOU dissapointed you as well?
Certainly not Black Panther and Captain Marvel seeing as how they both already have upcoming movies.
I think Ant Man may have been a nod to Stan Lee who has been campaigning for an Ant Man movie for over 30 years. Its been his pet hero project for w/e reason so maybe they were like 'why don't we throw Stan a bone and see if we can't make it work?'. He also doesn't really compete with other heroes in terms of powerset the way some heroes overlap so he stands out more.

That explains Ant Man, but what about Black Panther, Captain Marvel, or Inhumans? RIP MCU.
@superadam: Well, with Black Panther you have the black hero for some diversity who is also a pretty cool character, Ms Marvel brings the powerful female hero and Inhumans brings the group dynamic which seemed to work for gotg as well as having a lot of spacey/sci fi elements. MCU has some room for error at this point as well. They can afford to take some chances and expand. They always have Avengers and Spiderman to rely on in the future.

No, the MCU has to be very careful, because they're risking jumping the shark after the lackluster response from their fans over Age of Ultron.
@justthatkid: Namor movie would be amazing
Hank Pym: Scientist Supreme
@superadam: I don't think so. Its not like they could make decisions reaching far into the future based on the reviews AoU is getting from comic fanboys. All of this was already put into motion long before AoU. I think the MCU will be fine. Especially now that they have Spiderman and can throw him into things like Civil War.

The problem the MCU faces is the problem almost every product or idea faces. Products have a life cycle. It starts in the introduction phase, where the product isn't well known or well liked. Moves to the growth phase, where the product quickly takes off and becomes very popular. The comes the maturity phase, where the product growth slows until it stops and sales start to fall. Then hits the decline phase, where the products popularity shrinks until it is no longer profitable, and it dies. While, there are products that don't fit the product life cycle, the vast majority of products/ideas DO fit this life cycle. Marvel is clearly in the maturity phase, right now. So what's likely going to happen next is people are going to start getting sick of Marvel's movies and Marvel's marketing, and their sales will likely start declining rapidly, unless they take actions to prevent this. AoU already has shown signs of Marvel's fans losing interest. So Marvel has to be very careful.
@superadam: That's obvious but I don't think these decisions are somehow bad ones by them. I think its good they are bringing out new titles rather than trying to stick with the old stuff. If anything, that will only prolong the life cycle of their movies. Just as I think its good if they replace most of the Avengers for a 5th Avengers movie. AoU has done very well at the box office so I don't think its at all been a sign of Marvel fans losing interest. The hardcore fans will be the last to abandon the genre.
I think Ant-Man is deserving of a movie, especially the Hank Pym version. He has a long marvel history. In fact, after the Fantastic Four he is Stan Lee's oldest superhero. Lee loves the character. Lee himself tried to get an Ant-Man movie to the screen. The character is unique and one of Marvel's most complex.
Pym has a long history in the Avengers. If you look at their history, he was the main powerhouse from around issue 28 through about issue 59 where he became Yellowjacket. He has had several major storylines over the years including the infamous breakdowns and domestic abuse. You can't have a good Ultron story without him.
Pym has given us the Wasp, Scott Lang, Ultron, and a ton of other characters owe their origin to him. He has been in some classic Avenger's tales. He has been far more critical to the Avengers over the last forty plus years than Black Panther or Captain Marvel.
Black Panther
DR. Strange
Namor The Sub-Mariner
This.
Howard the duck
Already happened...
Black Panther should have been the next one. Wakanda is fresh in our minds from Avengers 2 and he should be in Civil War.
@noone301994: Black Panther IS in Civil War, that's where he's making his debut.
Easy. Actual good Daredevil or Elektra films, Nova, Thanos so we can get to know him some more since you know Marvel is awfull with villains. I could name a few more but they wont be as popular.
@jonny_anonymous: lol Salty
Does anyone know if this new fantastic four movie is part of the MCU? If it isn't I would have liked to see F4 introduced into the MCU with awesome action scenes and a great plot involving Doom, who could be a perfect villain for the avengers

It's not. The F4 is owned by FOX.
