"Mutants" are just an evolved version of the current human right? Im almost sure. You would be a mutant wether you want it or not. Unless youre and alien sent to earth from your exploding planet but raised as an al american Kansas boy.
Still a mutant by the definition of the word, unless you can trace the origin of said powers to a relative. But if there was no hereditary basis for the powers in the existing gene pool, then by definition the person is a mutant. Maybe not a "Mutant" by the X-Men definition of having the presence of the X-Gene, but still a mutant scientifically. Maybe metahuman would be a better alternative classification in the realm of comics? Just to draw a line between mutants with and without the X-gene.
Why don't mutants ever say they got their powers from radiation or something? Considering the number of superheroes in the Marvel universe who don't get nearly as much prejudice for their powers
