What if Dragon Ball Z never existed.

What if DBZ was never made,what impact would it have on manga and anime.

Not to mention of over the top muscular anime characters.

DeathBattle would not cause flame wars and will not be as popular as today. Without the need of a moderated discussion of fictional character battles, ComicVine's Battle forums was never created.

Unfortunately that also means the impossibly strong scrawny characters would become even more prominent and anime would have NO manly men at all. The shonen scene would basically be the Magic Girl genre but with guys.

It'd be awful.

One Piece, Ghost Fighter, Hunter X Hunter, Bleach and Naruto would'nt be existing today.

Asian Anime characters would look Asian instead of Caucasian and the endless debate over who should play them in fan-casts (Asian actors vs. Caucasian actors) won't exist.

World would be a better place :)

We would never know

One of two things probably would happen. Yu Yu Hakusho or Saint Seiya(or some other series, but these are the most likely) take the stage, causing there to be less stupid protagonists and probably more drama in shonen. Alternatively series like cowboy bebop and lupin III would take the mantle causing shone to take a dip in popularity and more serious/down to earth series to take stage.

Edit: In scenerio 1 shows like inyuasha would probably be more popular and less manly characters would probably take a rise. We would also have even more children in anime/manga.

DC vs Marvel flame wars were intercepted by Naruto fanboyism. Naruto battles were banned instead of DBZ.

The world would be incomplete and sad

1. We wouldn't have series like Hunter X Hunter, Yu Yu Hakusho, One Piece, or Naruto.

2. Anime probably would have never been exported over to America

3. We wouldn't have weebos, fan girls making yaoi, or 'tards

4. I probably wouldn't have gotten into comics as much as I am today tbh

Anime characters have looked Caucasian long before Dragon Ball.

...Why would you even want to think about such a horrible world?

That's the kind of thinking that turns a world into Earth-3. (I'm 99% sure it was a barren wasteland well before the Anti-Monitor showed up. The amount of lame on that Earth was staggering and he couldn't let it go on any further so he put it out of it's misery.)

So to answer your question, we'd have been destroyed by the Anti-Monitor. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT!?

Well Fist of the North Star and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure already sorta brought that idea.

However, we wouldn't have anime with energy projection and ki and chakra (Naruto) and zenkai, etc. as commonly such as Naruto, Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc.

And anime probably wouldn't have main characters that have the ability to up their power by transforming the color of their hair, etc.

Saint Seiya would had being more popular, but still being more popular in the western world that the rest, still it would had failed to live to the hype and never became mainstream.

Man of Steel would had lesser fight scenes and the villain would had be Lex Luthor again.

Also the fact would be that Slam Dunk would be the king of anime or some random mecha anime, still the anti anime people would be alive and would ask what would had happened if some random mecha anime never existed.

Yes it is common knowledge many writers got inspiration from DBZ. But they'd still make something of their own. Hell, it might even be better without the stupid tropes DBZ popularized.

imo if dbz never existed or never came to america anime or mangas would have never been as big as it is today dbz help pave the way for other animes and manga
