So way back when, in Death of Superman....Superman of course died fighting Doomsday and the death of Superman was really impactful, so much so that it appeared on the news.

Now what if DC actually stuck to it and kept Superman dead?

Do you think, that death would have had a more meaningful impact and DC/Marvel wouldn't keep bringing back dead characters? That said characters would stay dead and new characters would be introduced?

Would this have been a more welcome change, giving new light to newer characters? New storylines and the like?

Or would they just continue to bring back characters regardless if they died?

Agreed. They're too scared to actually kill of characters. I wish they would though.

I wish he would have stayed dead. Although he should have been given a better villain to go out on. They should have shifted their focus on Superboy struggling to take up the mantle.

They probably would of kept Majestic in their DC universe, but then they wouldn't have a perfect superman. Can't have that >_>

It's possible, and I do think more death would lead to more characters being introduced/utilized.

But I also think, that some characters should still remain in a sense. Superman, for example, should be a Legacy that other people can carry on. Like the idea of the Superman Dynasty, Batman Family, etc.

And I do think these characters could/would still impact the world even after death.

Well people seems forget that Superman has legacy in 31st century name Legion of Superheroes. Superman and Legion is very close together. Legion can change timeline and somehow revive Superman. That is why one of reasons Superman is important to DCU.

@anbu_b_team: Actually I agree with that! I just hated how he came back. Whenever someone asks me out the Death of Superman, it's embarrassing. After I explain that he and Doomsday didn't really die, it just makes everyone I talk to think Superman is really stupid. I can't blame them, because there's a lot that is dumb.

I loved the impact on the general media of its death.

Not sure of what would happen now.

I hoped three times that dead will comics will stay dead:

-During and after Zero hour (1994, DC)

-During and after Onslaught (1995, Marvel)

-And of course the very serious attempt by Marvel Editor in Chief, Quesada, at the beginning of its tenure when he started a "Dead Means Dead" policy (early 2000's, Marvel)

Now it's just one dead after another one and one resurrection after another one. Just ridiculous.

@greenarrowfan12: yep. One of the first Marvel I read. That's why I was so disappointed when Jean Grey came back at the end of the 80s: I assumed her death after the DP Saga would be as definitive as this one and was really sad when she died. Same for the death of Gwen.

Death should be permanent even in the comics, except for "gods" like Thor and Co.

@greenarrowfan12: yes, but by contrast to the other events, I read it years and years after its publication, so no real impact for me on this one
