What if Black Widow became Captain Marvel in the MCU?

Its a small theory that a youuber I like has stated. I personally don't like it but it would be easier to sell the movie and non of the Hardcore fanboys of Marvel will complain about it and call it genius :/.

If it will help bury the memory of SHIELD in the MCU, I'm all for it.

Kind of does Carol's character a disservice, considering she's arguably Marvel's First Lady right now and been pushed fairly heavily the last few years. It's the movies, and obviously doesn't always reflect the comics, but I highly doubt it given Marvel's push of Carol and show of faith in her character.

Not to mention the rabid fanbase known as the "Carol Corps" would riot...

I'm a big Danvers fan, but I wouldn't call myself a "Carol Corpsman".

Relax ... In Min 14.13 Kevin Feige says specifically that Captain Marvel will be Carol Danvers, not Black Widow or Natasha Romanoff... (just reply to you to clarify i know you didn't buy it)

If Scarlett had been casted as Carol instead of Natasha at the beginning, id be fine with it but not now.

I'm not sure how hard they're gonna push to renew SJ's contract once it expires, so I don't really see them creating a new character for her to play. Has she expressed an interest in staying in the MCU for the long haul?
