I sincerely apologize if my lack of comic history/knowledge offends anyone. I recently read about Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship and that had me wondering about what happen to Batman and Wonder Woman. I remember watching the cartoons when I was younger and them kind of being a thing, or at least liking each other. So I guess, what kind of happened their. Again, sorry if my lack of comic knowledge leaves this question unanswerable, thanks anyway.

It's not that popular of a pairing. Or maybe it is. It was in the Justice League show.

Personally, I prefer the Bruce / Selina pairing.

Nothing. It stays on JL and JLU show.

This is DCnU, Not DCAU.

i like Bruce/Selina pairing too. Besides, a Batman/Wonder Woman pairing might also end up with what happened to the Black Panther/Storm pairing.

There's always been a little bit of tension between them, but nothing ever came of it. You have to remember that not everything in the cartoons necessarily matches up with the comics, either.

You might not know this, but recently, DC rebooted their entire universe with the New 52. Basically, all of their series were cancelled and they launched 52 new number 1 issues, making the heroes younger, changing/erasing some history, etc. Basically, it was an attempt to attract new readers by "modernizing" the characters, making some tweaks to give them a fresher, updated feel. In the New 52, there hasn't been any note of tension between Batman and Wonder Woman. The Superman/Wonder Woman relationship is new, and it appears that's how its going to be in the New 52 (although we'll see how long the relationship actually lasts)

@Imagine_Man15: I did know about the reboot, but thank you for explaining all of that.

Also, thank you to everyone else for all the responses, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one alone in their interest in the romantic aspect of a super heroes' life, haha. Most of my knowledge of super heroes has indeed come from watching the cartoons, mainly the superman and batman animated series' so I apologize again for not knowing too much about the actual comic background.

Yep. They've been flirting around since the 70's KungFu Wonder Woman era. They've also been featured prominently in several Elseworlds and alt-reality tales as being together.

My favorite though will always be Matt Wagner's Trinity. I love how Bruce is just frozen when he first see how beautiful Diana is when he gets to paradise island.

Lol, he just walks up to her and she thoroughly hand him his ass,(shes never seen him before at this point) but he's still immediately in love.

I'd much rather WW be with Bat's than Kal.

@UrbanGt: No problem, I'm happy to answer any other questions you might have to the best of my ability. Really, if you ever want to know ANYTHING about the world of comics, just come this site. Somebody will know ;)

And really, if you're at all interested in getting into comics... the New 52 is the place to start, because its a FRESH start, and there's no back reading necessary... you can just jump right on board with it. I could even recommend which series from it to check out (or you could just look at any of the multiple threads on this site about it). Just putting the offer out there.

@Imagine_Man15: Wow, thank you so much, I just saw your post after creating another topic about wanting to get in comics and where to start. I would definitely love some recommendations on what to check out and where to begin.

@UrbanGt: Alright, I'll head over to that thread and post some suggestions for you.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you on this... I've been answering somebody else's questions about Batman and just saw this post :)

I alawys liked the idea of Batman/Wonder Woman since they hinted at it on JLU.

#32 Posted by ltbrd (552 posts) - - Show Bio

There have been just as many Superman/Wonder Woman Elseworld stories as there have been Batman/Wonder Woman.

However, in the main timeline of the Modern Age (so basically anything past 1986 including the revamp of the new 52) there has never been an official romance however we did have a few issue of Wonder Woman during Blackest Night imagine herself with Batman. Nothing ever came of it though.

As for the Justice League animated series, nothing really came of that either. Everyone focuses on the five minutes of a single episode where the two talk about the possibility of a relationship but that's it. The only other time Batman's feelings come up is when WW is transformed into a pig and he asks for Zatanna's help in finding her.

On the Superman side of the house there was an two issue story arc a few years back where Clark and Lois attend an event WW is hosting and Supes gets mind controlled by a sorceress (I don't think it was Circe but can't remember). Lois and WW team-up to save him and in talking WW admits that she has personal feelings for Superman but has never acted on them as she knows Supes was only interested in Lois (this is before Blackest Night so in a way the events of Blackest Night make a bit more sense as WW changed her affection from Superman to Batman due to Superman being unavailable). In the Justice League/Justice Society cross-over featuring the Legion of Super-Heroes Liberty Belle tries to convince Wonder Woman of hooking up with someone and she says no to everyone LB mentions except for Superman; simply saying "he's unavailable".

So where am I going with this? DC has intentionally teased the fact that Wonder Woman could end up with either Batman or Superman for years. However, most readers have focused on the Batman/Wonder Woman possibility because its been more pronounced and shown in the cartoon series or actual panels like in Blackest Night.....whereas a fling with Superman has always been regulated to hidden comments and hints because DC had Superman marry Lois Lane. At the same time, writers have been clear to showcase just why a Batman/Wonder Woman relationship would never happen by Bruce's own admission.

Also, Bruce is a bit to crazy for someone like Wonder Woman. His entire existence is based on obsession and drive and Wonder Woman has never been characterized that way......but is a reason the Bruce and Selina relationship is so strong and the highlight of alternate universe Batmen's like Earth-2.

Superman and Wonder Woman just seems boring. They'd hold hands alot. Clark would be whipped. Batman and Wonder Woman is more interesting. A player meeting the strongest woman in the world. Theirs more dynamic to it. Whatver, Geoff Johns is a Batman hater imo.

Pairing makes no sense what so ever, I've always liked Bruce and Selina, and have enjoyed the stories with Talia and the League of Assassins.

When Clark eventually dumps her for Lois, Bruce will be there with the shoulder to cry on. Since this is comic book world where friends can sleep with each other and have no problems cough X-Men cough, Superman and Batman will still be Bros.

I can't remember at this point. Off the top of my head I think it was one of those alternate timeline JLA stories. Definitely from within the last decade or so.

Can't have a good relationship progress more than two issues, idiotic fanboys might get upset that Superman has a wife.
