title kinda says it all. A friend got me into comics
What got you into comics?
An interest in the characters after watching a load of the films
(Edited because originally I appear to have misread it as "Who got you into comics?" and answered that instead)
Culmination of a lot of things really.
I love all of the superhero cartoons but never associated them with comics.
Then one day I wanted to find out more about Thor and realized there was an entire history in these things called comics.
Can't remember what Thor comic I read first but from there on I never stopped reading.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I started with the Future Shark Trilogy from Archie Comics....then moved on to Spider-man after seeing the Trial of Peter Parker on the rack....then from there on to X-men when my cousin was reading Age of Apocalypse and then Onslaught hit and I pretty much started reading every Marvel book being published at the time
Superman.
The New 52. ive gone back and read a bunch of old stuff though
The X-Men movies... but I can barely watch them now that I know how badly Rogue got butchered in them.
@flazam "title kinda says it all. A friend got me into comics"
and who was that friend?
me
TV shows, then movies, then action figures, and finally actual comics. The first comic I ever read was from the 90s but I only started collecting in the early-mid 2000s.

it was
I travel for a lot for work and was looking for something to read. I wanted something light to read as a break from the CPA exam books I was using to study. I hadn't had much luck finding fiction books that I liked in a while and didn't feel like reading any of my economic/political books. I remembered reading a Captain America comic when I was little (this was right after the movie was announced) so on a whim I purchased the first Captain America omnibus by Brubaker. I had Amazon ship the next two omnibuses to my hotel the next week because it was such an engaging story. It is kinda snowballed from there. Whenever I read fiction now, I usually go to comics.
As a Kid I would watch cartoons such as Justice league unlimited, Batman, Hulk, Ironman etc and suddenly I find out that all these characters continue their adventures in comics books that I found in my library! So that's what got me into comic books. I left comic books for a really long time but, thanks to New 52 I'm reading a butt load of comics now; Marvel, DC and others.
Spiderman. Than I stopped liking them. Then it was the Fantastic 4. Then I stopped liking them. Then I went and saw Captain America: The First Avenger on opening night and that's what got me into comics as much as I am now
@wolverine08: Do you Read Hickman's Avengers though
@wolverine08: I can't wait till Infinty!!
@decoy_elite: so true
Marvel has been plagued by sub-par/bad events for a while now, but I think Jonathan Hickman might give us the best Marvel event for this decade with Infinity.
@wolverine08: I agree
I came into fandom for Jason Todd's sassiness(Under the Red Hood), and stayed for Cassandra Cain's kindness(Batgirl). I watched a lot of reruns of the animated tv series growing up(Batman Beyond, JLU, Static Shock), but I honestly thought that American comics were all old-timey and out of print until I ran into a modern day trade in the library.
Then I left DC because Beechen, Tomasi...etc dragged Cassandra through the mud, mocked and lied to her fans, and then erased her. The ultimate slap to the face. Switched to Marvel for Miles, Hawkeye, and Ghost Rider. At least, ONE publisher cares about telling stories and leaving room for diverse characters. I still have a spot spot for DC characters, but not for the n52 or DCYou or whatever they're putting out right now.
Gotten into comics and out a lot in my life. 1st got into comics in the early 90's from the X-men,fantastic four, spider man and iron man cartoons. Plus they had those awesome covers that sold so well to impressionistic kids like me. Probably late 90's I fell out of comics. Then a couple of years later got back into it don't remember why, then probably from 2003-2009 I didn't read any, then my brother got me back in with things like Civil war, watchmen, world war hulk, old man logan,invicible etc... have been reading ever since.
As a kid I can't say. Probably realized there were books about Batman and Spider-Man and tossed whatever I was doing in favor of some 1990's ink. As an adult, after my daughter was born (03-04-09) I needed a quiet hobby. With all the superhero movies out, I wanted to read the great Superhero stories. Thus began the heinous learning curb.
The DC cartoons.
I've pretty much watched all of the major animated projects of the last decade.
But it was MCU that got me into vs debating
