So I am a new fan of comics and am trying to get a grasp on the comic vocabulary. I saw the word 'editorial" used a few times in relation to comics but it wasn't used in the main sense such as an editorial column of a newspaper. So, what exactly does editorial mean in comic book terms?

Editorials are the different comic book publishers (DC, Marvel, Image, Valiant, etc.)

@JulieDC: I think it means the editor of a comic decides if what the writers and artists have done is acceptable to go to print. Also, apparently sometimes the editor will have some say in what happens in the plot of the comic.

I think that's kinda what it is, but maybe I'm wrong. I'm not exactly a long time comic reader myself.
