I'm looking for a good creator owned series to get in trade. What should I get? I'm open to suggestions.
Note: I've tried East of West and honestly didn't care for it. It was ok, not great.
@cap10nate: No I haven't. I hear it's good, but it's still superhero and I'd rather stay away from that genre. I read enough of that between DC and Marvel.
@cc1738: SAGA?!
@project_worm: Is that really as good as critics say? I'm kinda curious but frankly it looks really odd.
@cc1738: It's fan-f**king-tastic... ALTHOUGH. It is in fact VERY odd. In my opinion the brief nude scenes could be left out but whatever, it's not that bad. I'd say give it a try. If you're not turned off by what I said.
@cc1738: I second Saga.... It's one of my all time favorite books.....
@cc1738: I believe The Walking Dead is creator owned? Well, Robert Kirkman is a partner in Image anyways... But there's a whole bunch of trade paperbacks I know I eventually want to buy. Also interested in Saga.

SAGA is awesome!! But also try Francesco Francavilla's Black Beetle and Paul Pope's Battling Boy!!
if you like horror/fantasy or coming of age story's i highly recommend Locke and Key by Joe Hill(Stephen King son) and art by Gabriel Rodrigez. No other series has given me the amount of emotions that this book has given me over it's now acclaimed and finished run.

I had not heard of those... I might have to check 'em out myself.

Also, I just realized my suggestion might be considered a bit biased given my avatar (though I promise I only chose it 'cause Marko looks like a total badass in it) so I'll second @pinecone's suggestion. Even though I just started reading Lock & Key I can safely assume it's worth your time (and monies).
@matteopg: @billy_batson: I enjoy a lot of stuff. Game of Thrones and Fringe are my favorite tv shows. My favorite movie is The Last Samurai and Assassin's Creed games is my favorite game series. I love historical fiction and really get into period pieces. I also really like Sci-Fi and post apocalyptic stuff a lot too (I will not read the Walking Dead. I'm watching the show and don't want to ruin it.)
It doesn't have to fit into a certain criteria. All it has to have are good characters and an interesting plot. Again no Superhero stuff. I read a lot of DC and Marvel stuff every month.
@cc1738: I'd say that Saga would fit with some of your taste: it's a good mix of sci-fi and fantasy but not in the usual way, there are parallel plotlines that are very well intertwined. There's good, short but intelligent action, and cool charatcter interactions. Also let's see...
For a more fantasy experience, go with Rat Queens. I was so surprised! It obviously hints at basic fantasy (almost D&D) stuff, but with a very modern spirit, language and plotlines. Still the action is great.
I've read very little of it, but Chew looks cool. It's inventive, cop-show-like, with some intrigue and has very playful art.
If you want to go for a different modern-fantasy/horror, go with Locke & Key. The scenario is interesting and, if you like slowly laid down events, it's perfect.
If you want a classic, serious, awesomely drawn, and still inventive fantasy, with amazing visuals and cool characters, go with Ravine. It's still at the beginning but I think it bodes well ;)
That's it for now, I hope you get and enjoy some of these!
Omg, great list!!

@billy_batson: Which one is your favorite? Just curious.
@billy_batson: I do the bing rewards and get 5 dollar amazon gift cards for free. lol. It's how I get all my trades. I have like five accounts and get a couple trades a month. I love Brian Azzarello's writing. Him and Jeff Lemire are the reasons I want to get Future's End.
@billy_batson: @cc1738: Add The Underwater Welder to the Jeff Lemire love.
I've heard so much about this series. I gotta check it out.
Also, I second every person who has said Saga. It's mindblowing.
Also, this guy:

Easily my favorite indie creator-owned series. The third volume, The Legacy of Luther Strode, isn't out yet, but I eagerly await it.
