His His birthdays coming up, willing to get a few.

He hasn't read too many comics but says he likes DC only. He likes the Justice League (not too expansive, like only primary members) and for single people he likes Batman, Superman and Aquaman.

Any ideas?

Flash, Earth 2 and Green Arrow are good. Maybe he'd like to try those.

I actually think KC will be a little too complicated for someone who hasn't read comics for a while, or hasn't read too many. Start off light. Get him Year one, Superman, For all Seasons, All-Star Superman, and the Loeb/Sale Batman stuff from the 90's, sans Haunted Knight, of course.

Superman: Man of Steel by John Byrne. It's a pretty solid origin story, and you don't need to know a lot going into it.

@giantsfan576: I'm not sure what he's already read so I'll just throw All-Star Superman, Batman: Hush, and Flashpoint. If he likes the older stories Batman: Year One, and Killing Joke come to mind.

Batman fans are easy. Theres a plethora of graphic novels to choose from. Batman Year One, Dark Knight Returns, Arkham Asylum, The Killing Joke, and if he's a real man - Batman: Cult.

The Trench is a great introduction to Aquaman, although if he already likes Aquaman the jokes at his expense may be a bit grating.

On the other hand Throne of Atlantis features both Aquaman as one of the main characters and some great Justice League action, making it one of my favorite arcs from the New 52.

Batman Hush, All-Star Superman, and New 52 Aquaman are the best stories I've read of the characters you've listed.

What kind of tastes does your friend have in fiction? There seems to be a Justice League title or storyline for every genre now. Good luck and happy birthday to your friend.

@giantsfan576:

Batman: Hush, Long Halloween, anything by Grant Morrison but start at the beginning, Batman and the Monstermen, Batman and the Mad Monk (semi sequel to the Monstermen - excellent stuff)

Superman: Geoff Johns Action Comics run (Superman and the Legion of Superheroes particularly), All Star Superman (although it's an alternate earth it's probably the greatest Superman story ever), Kingdom Come, What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way

Aquaman: The entire Geoff Johns run (vol.1 The Trench, vol.2 The Other, vol.3 Throne of Atlantis - get the upcoming Aquaman volume, not the Justice League one - The Aquaman volume includes the backstory of Aquaman and Atlantis while the JL volume includes a two part completely irrelevant Cheetah story), the Peter David 90's Aquaman series (though it has not been collected yet), Brightest Day (collected)

And some good JL ones with all three : anything from Grant Morrison (especially the Ultramarine ark issues 24-26, including JLA Classified 1-3, but all are excellent), JLA Classified's last volume That was Now, This is Then

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Starman, it never gets enough recommendations in threads like these.
