I was just curious if there are any characters who have gone from childhood to adult through the pages of the comics(or something like that). The closest I can think of was Franklin, but I have not seen FF in many years so I do not know how old he is now.

Not Cable or Magneto, since each has been every age imaginable, but any others, I was just curious....

Anyone who has been under Wolverine's guidance. I.e. Kitty Pryde and Jubilee. Either than that, I'd say the original five X-men.

Probably Constantine - he's aged in real time since he was created, yes?

Definitely the JSA (Scott, Garrick, Grant...) but, because of the convoluted continuity and the different realities involved, it is probably not the answer you were looking for.

So I would answer the Trinity + Dick Grayson, who pre-Flashpoint were more or less fifteen years older than when they started.

What?

Those guys were in their mid-twenties, exactly like every other superhero, the Trinity included.

The characters in Gasoline Alley. They've aged in almost real time over a period of 90 years. But it's a newspaper comic strip so I don't know if it counts.

@Jnr6Lil:

Im reasonable sure Peter wasn't a adult when he became spider-man.... i was always under the impression he was 15 when he became spider-man im not sure about that though (i think i might've ot that from ultimate spider-man) but i think most will agree he wasn't an adult as he was still in high school and essentially made to be a teenage superhero.

Peter Parker. He went from a high-school student, to a college guy, to a married man, and then to a father (even if the baby didn't survive).

Right now, I'm too lazy to find scans to prove this statement but for the love of Thor I can't see what made you think he was an adult when he was in high school?

Thanks for all the great answers, I never really thought of Spider-Man/Peter Parker....

What got me wondering about this was reading some old X-Force comics where Sam/Cannonball was portrayed within a span of a few comics as the oldest on the team(other than Domino Sam was somewhere around late 20s), then just a few comics later he is drawn as a very young looking teen ager. Kind of like X-Man during his run in the late 90s where he was drawn so inconsistently in terms of age..

That happens a lot in X books which is part of the reason I've never been a huge fan. Wolverine goes from looking 60 in one book to early 30's in the next and Rogue goes from 30 to 16. It's just artist interpitation but I think things like ageing and height should be consistent .I'd much rather them change the costume and hair than make these drastic changes between artist every time. Oh and whoever the artist is that draws every book like a magma 'ugh' ... It looks too cartoonish and kills the more serious stories.

Not rebooted, no. The Golden Age stories just took place in another reality, Pre-Crisis Earth-2. After Zero Hour, they were RetConed once more into New Earth continuity. Up until last week (Earth-2 reboot by James Robinson), the Golden Age stories were in continuity and the characters almost aged in real time (to a point, that is), they just changed reality twice. And I talked about "convoluted continuity and the different realities involved" in my original post.

I understand that because I had most of those books but DC is getting way way to complicated with this Earth 1 and 2 stuff let alone the complete reboots and or retcon of the entire history that they do every ten years or so.

Yeah the original X-men were all in their late teens. Beast about 20, Cyclops 19, Jean 18, Angel 18 or 17 and Iceman was the youngest at about 16. They kinda just instantly became mid 20's in X-Factor and then early 30's once they returned and into the current era. I wonder if they will continue to age or not..oh Xavier seemed to be in his mid 30's during those early runs but Magneto must have been in his 40's or 50's already since he had adult children. It's possible Mags just happens to be a few years older than X but it was never really mentioned. Most X-men have aged a little bit either in story or by the artist simply drawing a more mature version that has became tue norm over the years. ...... What about Captain Marvel of Dc? Is he still a kid in his normal form or did he grow up? Rage in Marvel is sorta the same thing , he's a child in a mans body. Not sure if he has aged along with the original New Warriors/X-Force or not..I'm pretty sure Boomer grew up but idk what she is called or even if she is active or alive at the moment.

i would have to agree w/ the Bat consensus (dick, jason),wally west and peter parker. But also: franklin and valeria richards (seen from birth to current age), illyana, x-men (does she count? she was a child when introduced), and....wesley dodds (original sandman/JSA...he aged from middle age on and passed away of old age).

Exactly almost every character that was introduced as child or a teenage has grown up its just the ones introduced as a adult that generally haven't aged.
