Court of owls? It showed his main reason as for why he wanted to be batman, after his parents' death, he started to look after the killers and went looking for the court. In the later issues of the story, he fought and never gave up.

Nolan even said it in a interview, i am not sure but i think new printing of the TLW has a part that was from chris nolan.

Morrison's Batman run(not Arkham Asylum), that's the definitive Batman for me.

Also even though I love TDKR Batman, I don't consider him as the definitive Batman.
