Batman's almost definitely my favorite superhero, but at the moment I don't have that much of his material. I'm hoping to buy a few more graphic novels, but which ones should I get? Below are the stories I've already read/got:

  • Knightfall
  • The Dark Knight, Knight Terrors
  • Hush
  • The long Halloween
  • The Dark Knight returns
  • The last Arkham

Here is some more information that should have some effect on your recommendation:

  • Nothing too gory (A little is fine, just nothing really over the top).
  • I don't have that much cash to spend.
  • The villains I would quite like to see, mostly in order, are Riddler, Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke, Firefly, Killer Croc, Clayface, Anarchy, Man-Bat, KGBeast, Deadshot, Black mask and Great White Shark. Of course, not all of them have to make an appearance but I would prefer it if at least three had fairly big roles. A reason I liked Knightfall is because lots of different characters made appearances, so something like that might be good.
  • I don't mind if Robin/Nightwing, is in the story, as long as he's not center stage.

That's everything you need to know, so what would you recommend?

  • Contagion
  • Cataclysm
  • No Man's Land

Lots of lesser known Bat-villains make appearances in these, as they were a series of "Gotham-wide events", following one another, that lasted over a year.

Has anybody read legends of the Dark Knight (I mean the most recent series)? It sounds quite good, but I don't know how expensive it is or what villains are in it.
