We want more moderators!

Hello fellow viners :)
Perhaps you are like me or perhaps not. If you are this is for you. I and several others believe the Vine would benefit from knighting some of our more elite members as moderators. If you agree with me please sign this blog and also if you feel inclined name 1-5 people you believe deserved moderator status.

Completely agree!

Those I would like to see have Battle Forum moderator status:
Static Shock
Morpheus
K4tzm4n
Vance Astro

The reasoning for those choices is that they all are very well aware of the rules of the battle forum and are constant staples to it. They can easily recognize a troll and are evenhanded.

In regards to whom I would name Moderator first:
K4tzm4n and Morpheus should get priority over all others in my opinion.

I'm with you, Crom.  Sure, the battles thread has quite a few mods, but let's be honest here, it isn't enough and quite a few simply aren't "regulars".  With the addition of one or even two frequently active mods, the battles section can improve a great deal.  For example, Rby's reign of Storm fanboyism lasted months before it was investigated and he was eventually banned for spamming threads and purposely annoying viners.  Many of the regulars were aware of his negative impact on the site from the first day.  If they had a portion of control, action could have been taken far sooner.  The exact same thing happened with Klandicar, and before it was noticed that HE was the troll, the most respected member of the battles section (The Creator) was banned for eventually losing his cool with the Bane fanboy.

My nomination? Morpheus_  He treats everyone with respect, has never lost his temper, is more than familiar with the rules, and is online a daily basis.

Hopefully this blog will make a difference, Crom.

I've heard of The Creator but I don't think I've ever spoken to him. If this is true, it only makes the addition of more moderators urgent.

I will sign this again because I don't think anyone else deserves it more. He is gracious in proving me wrong and polite always. I've learned a lot of comic facts from him

Based on who I've seen become mods, they need someone who's good at managing the wiki, helping others, and is respectful to everyone.

With that said, Morpheus_ should be a moderator. He has everything needed to make a good mod and would be perfect for handling the current issues with the Battles Forums.
I'm all for new mods who are more "battle forums experts".

It's impossible not to respect him.  He's always polite and his posts are well thought-out.  Unfortunately, Klandicar pushed him, and pushed him...and pushed him.  Creator and I recently had a mini-debate in the Luke Cage VS Blade thread.

It is well known that I am in favour of this notion, so I support his blog, Crom.

K4tzm4n - Online many hours each day, even from work. Level headed, reasonable, open to suggestions, very friendly. Always keeps an eye on the battles forum.

Static Shock - Also online a great deal, he is a very knowledgeable, and in recent times, extremely disciplined debater, putting logic before emotion at pretty much all times.

AtPhantom - He's been busy as of late, but even when he posts in lesser frequency, he's almost always here. The virtues mentioned for the above apply to him, as well. Seasoned user with great ability to apply logic and almost never losing his cool.

Vance Astro - Vance is definitely the most radical choice of the four, but I dare say, the one that would be more succesful. A veteran, and a great debater, with unconventional and intense applications of his skill, he'd be perfectly suited to tone down any trolling that may occur, at any given time, at any forum. Yes, he is online that much.

The most important thing is all that all the users mentioned love the Vine, and, love the forum that, more than any of the others, has been plagued by bad behaviors, and would definitely try, and have already tried to change it for the better. I think we can't lose with any of them on-board.

@k4tzm4n:  Every time I hear people talk about Klandicar it's like they are talking about the boogeyman or something. I remember he was really annoying. But still it kind of makes me chuckle to hear people talking about him.

I don't think we need anymore mods.Although I would love to be a mod I think we have all that we need.I personally just think what is priority around here needs to be focused on more.Being a frequent patron of Battle forums, I'm sure people would believe i'm talking about that but i'm talking about all of the forums. There are users on these forums who have been banned for trollish behavior and refuse to stay banned by changing their IP or whatever it is they do and then they comeback and troll all over again.I don't want to condemn trolls as much as I hate them.Everyone here wasn't the best poster on CV when they got here and some of us that are held in high regard have done some trolls things but repeat offenders like Spike should be banned on sight. He shouldn't get the chance to ruin any threads with his ridiculous arguments and insults.Every time he changes his IP he should be banned. He has absolutely no plans any time he's posted on these forums to change at all.He just got an avatar last time so people didn't know it was him.

More mods won't really solve any of the problems the trolls don't break any rules so they can not get banned

If a person is trolling and it is more than clear, there are plenty of valid reasons to ban the individual.  For example, Rby was technically spamming by always posting his generic "Storm wins!" statements along with a scan of her over and over in debates.

I'd like to mention a few people. However I think it is important to say the following:

The OP mentions nominating people who deserve to be mods. I don't feel as if deserve is the right word in any situation. I also don't think it's about what we, as users "want". In terms of who becomes a moderator it has never been about what the community wanted. A thread was made many months ago where the Staff at the time asked the community at large who they thought would make a good moderator and a lot of the names you can see in here were thrown around by dozens and dozens of people with well-thought out and honest answers. In the end it was point-blank ignored and they just gave it to whoever they wanted. That will probably never change.

My point though, if I have one at all, is that it isn't about who deserves what. It's about who needs what. In this case, ComicVine needs moderators. I think the fact that the Battle Forums are grossly ignored and have been for a long time is beyond denial. It's not about having mods who go there occasionally, or when someone gets flagged. It's about people who go there, by choice, every day and have their finger on the pulse. We need Battle Forum Mods. As such my candidates we all be people who possess an intelligent, positive and knowledgeable approach to the Battle Forums. But as far as moderators go, I don't know how anyone else views this job but from afar it seems like a lot of work for virtually no reward. The only thing mods presumably get from their roles here is to feel like they make a difference in the community. I'd like to humbly submit a short list of people who I think would gladly dedicate their time and energy just to make a difference in the community.

Morpheus_: His all-round level of knowledge, patient debating style and respect for users is nothing short of legendary in the battles community. If you're not already very familiar with Morph, you've probably never been on the Battle Forums. But that's not why I'm putting him here. Put simply, he's the best of us.  We have all endured trolls, spammers and morons. We do it on a daily basis on the Battle Forums and Morph is on every day. The amazing thing is, he has never once lost his cool. Not that I've seen and I like to think I see a lot on here. He is the nicest, borderline-professional guy I've seen on here. Like all of the best, instead of making it a hostile argument, he treats battles as a means to learn about new characters, an exercise in education until a plausible truth can be found. A learning discussion rather than a flame-war. Though it does help that the clue-trains first stop is usually Morph.

k4tzm4n: One of the most patient and experienced members of the Battle Forum community. k4tz is extremely well respected for his knowledge, temperament and for his exceptionally high-quality threads. He has already put so much time and energy into making the 'vine a better place for everyone on the battle boards. In my eyes, making him a moderator would be one of the very best things CV have ever done. The things that set him apart from others is probably how polite and honest he is. It's very hard to find people who can objectively talk about their favourites characters, it's one of the truest qualities of a great debaters. It's something even the best of us cannot do or sometimes struggle with, because we hold them so close, slander is particularly offensive. Very few do it consistently and k4tzm4n is one of them.

I honestly don't know whether the site needs more or not, i do know i've heard this before even when seeing
new mods inducted. Mostly it seems a lot stems from the Battle Forums that i've seen though, and maybe
it's more so that a new system be worked out there. Though it's always a good idea to clean your own yard
if you love it and want it to stay clean rather than wait for the city to pick it up, just saying. I guess I'll go along
with this but only if i can finally get the mint wafers i keep asking for. I say that's fairness.

For plagiarism and fallacies yes, grammar not so much. If you see something that's grammatically incorrect fix it. Or tell me and I'll fix it.

Bad grammar irks me beyond belief. >_<

Crom and Jedi are absolute guns, they help the ignorant without a second's hesitation, so long as your cordial about asking for help. Morpheus, I've not spoken to much either, but he's always level-headed and even when he disagrees, he tries to enlighten rather than disparage. Were it not for him, I'd probably still be hating on Iron Man.

Irrelevant or (even better) non-canon scans at that. I've made my opinions on rbysjti and how long it took him to get banned known before, so I won't reiterate them here.

There are plenty of users in the battles forum who troll constantly. They don't have to be calling other people names and swearing to make what they are doing against the rules. Continuously trolling should be enough, in and of itself, to get somebody banned.

10. Trolling & Spamming

Will get you banned… Simple as that. This site is for all users to enjoy and this kind of behavior ruins it for everyone.

I can't flag at all(because the flag system is broken) and I find myself spending half my time in the battles forums searching for a mod that's online so that they can lock spite threads. I try my best to help out but there's only so much I can do, doubly so when you consider that not every mod is Battle forums savvy and thus can't quickly identify a spite thread. That means that I have to either a. catch the OP admitting spite or b. hope that a mod who can properly identify spite is online. A moderator who frequents the Battles Forums would make things much, much easier for everyone.

they don't have to be online right at that moment though you can always send whichever mod is best suited at what you need a pm and they can get to it when they get online....if you can't flag then you need to contact a mod about this as well and they'll either reset your points or look into the problem....I've personally never had a problem with the flagging system
