I'd like to mention a few people. However I think it is important to say the following:
The OP mentions nominating people who deserve to be mods. I don't feel as if deserve is the right word in any situation. I also don't think it's about what we, as users "want". In terms of who becomes a moderator it has never been about what the community wanted. A thread was made many months ago where the Staff at the time asked the community at large who they thought would make a good moderator and a lot of the names you can see in here were thrown around by dozens and dozens of people with well-thought out and honest answers. In the end it was point-blank ignored and they just gave it to whoever they wanted. That will probably never change.
My point though, if I have one at all, is that it isn't about who deserves what. It's about who needs what. In this case, ComicVine needs moderators. I think the fact that the Battle Forums are grossly ignored and have been for a long time is beyond denial. It's not about having mods who go there occasionally, or when someone gets flagged. It's about people who go there, by choice, every day and have their finger on the pulse. We need Battle Forum Mods. As such my candidates we all be people who possess an intelligent, positive and knowledgeable approach to the Battle Forums. But as far as moderators go, I don't know how anyone else views this job but from afar it seems like a lot of work for virtually no reward. The only thing mods presumably get from their roles here is to feel like they make a difference in the community. I'd like to humbly submit a short list of people who I think would gladly dedicate their time and energy just to make a difference in the community.
Morpheus_: His all-round level of knowledge, patient debating style and respect for users is nothing short of legendary in the battles community. If you're not already very familiar with Morph, you've probably never been on the Battle Forums. But that's not why I'm putting him here. Put simply, he's the best of us. We have all endured trolls, spammers and morons. We do it on a daily basis on the Battle Forums and Morph is on every day. The amazing thing is, he has never once lost his cool. Not that I've seen and I like to think I see a lot on here. He is the nicest, borderline-professional guy I've seen on here. Like all of the best, instead of making it a hostile argument, he treats battles as a means to learn about new characters, an exercise in education until a plausible truth can be found. A learning discussion rather than a flame-war. Though it does help that the clue-trains first stop is usually Morph.
k4tzm4n: One of the most patient and experienced members of the Battle Forum community. k4tz is extremely well respected for his knowledge, temperament and for his exceptionally high-quality threads. He has already put so much time and energy into making the 'vine a better place for everyone on the battle boards. In my eyes, making him a moderator would be one of the very best things CV have ever done. The things that set him apart from others is probably how polite and honest he is. It's very hard to find people who can objectively talk about their favourites characters, it's one of the truest qualities of a great debaters. It's something even the best of us cannot do or sometimes struggle with, because we hold them so close, slander is particularly offensive. Very few do it consistently and k4tzm4n is one of them.
