It's the only MCU movie I haven't seen, but I'm not sure if there's any place to rent it. And I don't want to buy it if it was junk. What is your guys' opinions on the movie?
Was the Incredible Hulk (2008) any good?
I personally thought the movie was a bit one dimensional.
I enjoyed Hulks role in the animated series better. Then again I tend to prefer animated stuff over live action movies.
Such an underrated film. If Ed Norton wasn't recast it wouldn't be as overlooked as it is today. I'm glad Marvel tries to address its existence when they can.
ja ja
I really enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed the movie really gave off the feel of Bruce Banner fugitive and had an amazing end fight scene. I think the only reason it really did poorly at the box office was because of the 2003 Hulk which was really drawn out and people were probably expecting the same.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Indeed. I don't get all the hate.
It was decent, very underrated albeit a little too dark and moody. Certainly better than the 2003 Hulk film, that much is evident. It's good enough if you want some Hulk action, awesome smashing and some alright dynamics between Banner and Hulk.
Isn't the Hulk supposed to be the dark and moody guy in the Avenger lineup?
@risingbean: Honestly, I think after that whole fiasco that was that terrible 2003 Hulk adaptation people were just really hesitant to see the big guy on screen again.

That is reason enough I would think they would rejoice. We finally got a good Hulk.
Lets face it, we had the 'on the run' style from the TV show that was beloved, we had Norton who pulled off the role, we had a badass villain and reasonably decent final battle, we had Liv Tyler as Betty. What is there to complain about?
Sheesh. If people want to bitch about the MCU, Iron Man 3. That is the weak link in the chain.
@risingbean: He can be a mixed bag of a character. His comic book history and The Avengers proves that much. The most positive on screen reaction to Hulk has been when he's portrayed as a much lighter character.
I actually think that movie is pretty decent. It's definitely not the best Marvel movie, but it's a slice of fried gold when compared to Thor: The Dark World.

I can dig it. But by portraying him as a lighthearted lug, he isn't really showing his depth as a character. It's easy to have him be comic relief in an ensemble, but to be true to the character he should be shown in full at some point, dark side and all. Solo movies are a great place to focus on that. I'd hate for him to just be the Avengers Drax.

Evidently the right balance is needed then for the next Hulk movie. One that brings the fun of his Avengers appearances and the dark depth of the 2008 film. Striking that balance would make for a crowd pleasing Hulk fun.
Didnt it make it to the top 20 superhero movies?
This show how good it is, its just that it didnt feel like you average Marvel movie.
Its in the right tone, the humor isnt everywhere and has a reason to be in the plot.
It was solid. They've certainly made movies that are a lot worse. But they've also made better.
Pretty much.
Eh... doesn't live up with modern standards. Certainly isn't worth a watch, man...
It's six years old...and far worse and better superhero/cbm movies have been made both recently and in the past.
Personally - Iron Man 2008 and Incredible Hulk... also 2008... don't appeal to me. I used to like them - but now they're dull, bland adaptations to me.

The Dark Knight, also 2008, and good number of superhero films preceded them that were as good or better.
There's not been a significant rise in quality in superhero movies.

Yeah, man... but I enjoy TDK... I don't enjoy Incredible Hulk or Iron Man...
I thought it was horrendous. No interesting characters, phoned in performance by Liv Tyler, and Abomination ruined and portrayed COMPLETELY out of character.

Damn it. Now you have me hyped for another Hulk solo.
And also, where does this movie stand in the cinematic universe? Is it part of it? I like Ruffalo a lot better as the Banner though honestly, especially his look.
Hell yes. They should have never replaced Edward Norton.
Incredible Hulk (2008) and Winter Soldier are my 2 favorite MCU movies.

Yes, it's a part of the official MCU. Iron Man, Hulk, IM2, Thor, Cap, Avengers. Phase 1.

Join the crowd, there are quite a few who want a Hulk solo and Marvel better take heed of that :P
