Time and time again I come across comments on various websites saying DCAU Superman was too nerfed. What are your thoughts?
Was Superman too weak in the DCAU?
@ganon15: It started going away by Season two of JL, but I haven't watched enough of Superman's solo series to comment on it.
Nope, he was the best powerset for a Superman.
He was the strongest member on the JLA, and JLU, but still was balanced.
New 52 Superman is a joke, they give him overpowered strength just for the sake of having it.
Nah, he was fine, plus he got stronger as the series went on,
Some great feats include:
1. Beating the sh*t outta Darkseid in season two of JL when Orion couldn't
2. Beating the sh*t outta Mongul in "For the Man who has Everything" when a heavily armed Wonder Woman couldn't
3. Beating Captain Marvel pretty easily in "Clash"
4. Beating Captain Atom while being weakened by Red Sun radiation
5. Holding a passenger plane up with one hand in "Clash"
6. Having his "Justice Lord" counterpart labotomize Doomsday
7. Having punches so strong that Batman said he would "Knock the Watchtower out of orbit" when fighting Darkseid
8. Hitting Darkseid in the series finale with such force it sent him flying halfway across the city. And admitting at that point that he constantly holds back.
I thought that was one of the better versions of Superman. He was powerful enough to go toe to toe with mega-hitters like Darkseid, but not so powerful that Luthor taking him on wouldn't seem like PIS. Superman IMO really needs to be more balanced than overly powerful.
Martian Manhunter was more powerful than Superman. (He jobbed more but his serious moments were the best).

When did he ever use any strength at all? The only powers I recall him using were telepathy, flight, and intangibility.
Lol no.
There are many instances of him being a little too weak, "The Late Mr. Kent", "Last Son of Krypton Pt. 3", "Livewire(when he had trouble lifting a falling crane)", to name a few. And that's just STAS
Have some inconsistent about Superman abillity but overall Superman in animation is good. In fact in might the best Superman in media
No, and I don't get why people keep regurgitating that, unless every version of Superman has to perform at comic levels to be exceptional. You can highlight low showings for virtually any character, it just so happens that DCAU Superman wasn't written to be overwhelmingly powerful in STAS. Though, even in STAS, he still had many great showings that I could cite multiple for every "weak" one with ease.
When it came time to fight the high-tiers that stomped everyone else like Mongul, Doomsday, Darkseid, and Amazo, Superman kicked ass just like he does in the mainstream comics. I agree that he was underwhelming in the first season of Justice League, but that's really the exception. Dragging planets, flying at lightspeed, and surviving in black holes aren't needed to have a relatively powerful version of Superman.
LOL at being afraid of Bruce. Why was MM allowed on the team again.
He was balanced to not overpower the rest of the characters.
You mean to not seem more powerful than Batman?
Let's face it, Batman was the most powerful character in the damn show.

Bruce Timm!!
They ground Batman too, it was great to notice how Batman and Superman didnt need to be ubber beings to have great stories.
This made thing interesting and relatable, its a great example you dont need them to be so damn powerful.
This help the storytelling, powers and absurd bs werent the king, characterization and storytelling were the kings.

There's a reason why the Justice League is called Batman and his B**ches.
The BatGod dodged Darkseids OB while every eslse got stomped and Superman put up a fight.
All Hail JLU Batman!

Pretty sure he even went as far as to kick Darkseid in the face.
I dont get why people want the character to be over powered, over powered characters are boring and dont allow you to do things with them.
When a character is define by his powers or gimmick, its a pretty bad character.
