Was Jason Todd an unecessary resurrection?
In the new 52, I think that it is so far because if Jason was just going to be resurrected so that he can go on adventures that really don't fit his character, then there really was no point in bringing him back. Not to mention that his death was one of the most important events of the DCU and now it's more of a footnote.
However, I do love the idea of Jason coming back as a villain because I think he has more to contribute.
Yes. It wasn't necessary at all. He was better dead, he meant more to batman that way. He hasn't really done anything special since then except be a jerk.
@jayc1324: You just got a follower.
Sigh. It's disappointing that comic characters can't stay dead.
Superman is a trend setter. It saddens me Marvel has done it so many times with their movies so the impact won't be as big when Superman dies in the movies

I can't think of anyone in the MCU that died and came back (unless you count Bucky).
@saint_wildcard: Death of Superman has to be the biggest letdown. If they are coming back what is the point in writing the story, other than to boost sales exponentially without improving upon the book. Marvel movies are very good but they always have the fake-out death. They even brought Groot back.

This other than his initial coming back and confronting Batman there hasn't been anything worthy. All it does is take away an important element and bog down the family.

Coulsen, Loki, Samuel L Jackson.

I'll give you Coulson, but I don't really count Fury since he was never actually dead.

But the audience did (for like over 30 minutes), we "saw" him die. For it not to count it would have to be something like in Iron Man 3, where only the people in the movie think he's dead but we knew he wasn't.
@batman-hush: Regrowing is one of Groot's powers though. What's wrong with the movie showing off some of Groot's powers?
Also on the topic of Jason. I think they should've kept him dead. I always thought it was amazing that there was that one sidekick that Batman failed to save the life of in time of danger. It gave Batman character growth and what followed gave us the reason why a Robin is needed. Bringing Jason back just kinda kills it all.

@xwraith: Captain America, Jean Grey(God knows her too well), Human Torch, Elektra, Enchantress, Hobgoblin, Kraven, Loki, Mary Jane, MODOK, Mook Knight, Odin, Thanos, Star-Lord. Need I name more?
@batman-hush: I was just talking about the movies, not the comics.
@batman-hush: He did say MCU.
Love Red hood. Prefer him as the Black Sheep of the BatFamily though.
me too
I really like the Red Hood but I really don't see the point in killing someone off just to revive them when they feel like.

It's not like they waited over 15 years or so. >____>
Once a character has been dead for at least a decade, it's not so bad to bring them back.
Partly yes, But this is comics, only Uncle ben stays dead
Now he's here for all "hardcore" guys to admire :P
@greatcaesarsghost: That simply seems like their grasping for straws.
@spideyivydaredevilfan26: Objectively speaking is what I am asking. I like Jubilee but she wasn't fit for the X-Men.
@jasonhawke: Do you have a basis for that argument?
@darthmummy: MCU. Marvel Comics Universe. Marvel Cinematic Universe. Same acronym.
I'm bias because I enjoyed Under The Red Hood a great deal - I've got the DVD animated feature and the comic book volume and I love both greatly - although outside of that, I've read Night of Owls and that was a cool arc - brilliantly written. So, yeah... I like The Red Hood.

@theamazingspidey: I like the story of Under the Hood as well, but objectively speaking I didn't like it being told. Todd has to be the most unnecessary resurrection right next to Bucky Barnes.

Yeah, man... maybe his resurrection is unnecessary but I enjoy his stories nonetheless.

@kairan1979: He represented what happens when you have a poorly trained Robin. His return also discounted excellent stories and spat on Tim's validity and philosophy. He also unraveled Joker's victory. What significance did his return really hold?
@mufc: Jason was Robin. Joker was Red Hood. Just because he's cool doesn't mean his return was necessary, or even justified.
