Joss Whedon feels the need to kill off a character in his movies. It's pointless.

More surprised than anything. I get that it was meant to be Scarlet Witch's version of Phil Coulson's death - the push - and it did bring a little more emotion to her character, but all-in-all it seemed rather unnecessary. He would have been a cool addition to the team...
