Underrated Superheroes

#1 Posted by dmkicksballs13 (110 posts) - 6 months, 26 days ago - Show Bio

I'm not talking about being a fanboy of characters, but the characters who are surprisingly unpopular with fans.

Marvel - Hank Pym, Moon Knight, Hellstorm, Finesse, Punisher (this may seem odd, but considering how good Rucka's run was and how poorly it did in sales?)

DC - Aquaman, Martian Manhunter (to me a cooler version of Superman), Beast Boy, Captain Atom

Who do you think is underrated?

Will Eisner's The Spirit, Blue Beetle, The Creeper , And The Question.

I agree with the ones you listed, I think Bullseye is an underrated Villain, dude killed someone from 300 yards away with a toothpick. He's pure insanity and my favorite villain of all time.

The new 52 Aquaman is a beast and has a great dynamic with the Justice League. I'm also gonna go ahead and say Blade, even though he had 3 really popular movies, but he doesn't have a comic book out right now. I wish they'd bring him out of the vault I always enjoyed Blade books.

Punisher is underrated?

Arrow is underrated, Static is underrated?

People need to stop confusing underrated with underused.

Is this just Marvel and DC or in general?

The Shield Americas first Patriotic Superhero, Sheena the first woman to get her own comic, and Spring Heeled Jack the very first superhero in publication history.

Zot. He's like, completely unknown, but awesome.

The Question, Aquaman, and actually the Flash I feel is a bit underrated. For being on of the most powerful of the JLA and having some of the most interesting stories many non comic fans and comic fans alike kind of think he just runs fast even though there is much more to him.

Huntress gets a pretty bad rap for some reason.

People have trouble taking Bullseye seriously (me anyways) because of that toothpick thing. Killing someone with a toothpick i can get on board with. Throwing one that far is just ridiculous though.

Here's my list and it's not just DC or Marvel.

Shaft: From Youngblood of Image comics. Dude had the skills of Hawkeye/Green Arrow. But the the combat savy of Captain America. He was just a badass. Cool under pressure. Prepared for everything. He took down Badrock in a battle simulation in a matter of seconds. Beat Overtkill, and was the only human handpicked to not only join Youngblood, but to lead it. Hell, they even made Chapel take a SSS before he was eligible.

Radioactive Man: Yes. I'm talking the Simpsons Radioactive Man. I've read some of his comics, and while childish, his powerset is quite impressive. He's basically Superman/Cap Atom level. Hell his weakness is quite similar to Atoms. The lightning rod placed in his head are the only things keeping him stable, if it were to ever be removed, he would eventually reach critical mass and explode. He is also, for the most part, immortal. Since it is almost impossible to hurt him physically, and he cannot get sick due to being living nuclear energy. They should actually look into making a more serious version of him.

Shang Chi: How hard is it to write great stories about a martial artist? Especially one who is said to be one of the greatest on the planet. Prove it! Put him in stories were he has to use what he's learned over the years. Make him a member of the Secret Avengers or the reserves, and then have him go against characters who will push him to his limits. He could be used for more stealth missions, basically leaving him alone, and having to use his skill to survive.

Agreed. Wonderman, Mimic and Ikaris are definitely underated/underused. I think Mimic is one of the most poorly used characters in the 616 universe. The exile version of Mimic was amazing. The 616 version is even more powerful, but they always portray him as a cowardly moron and he has never amounted to anything. So much potential, put him on X-Force or some smaller X-man team. He is a one man army.
