No matter how wonderful the movie, the book, the comic, the cartoon, etc. No matter how engaging the narrative was in its original form Hollywood just seems unable to not try and fix what is not broken in an attempt to cash in. You take the biggest fish from its respective pond and put it in the ocean of Hollywood it is treated like garbage and quickly forgotten most of the time.
Still there are other wondrous instances where the right team gets together and a masterpiece is born. But since most adaptations are not Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Mortal Kombat, or The Dark Knight. (Going off of box office I know people from the respective camps of these films find numerous faults with them)
So the question I pose to the Vine Community. Are there any shows, games etc that simply cannot be screwed up assuming that the studio does not take the Super Mario Bros route i.e complete tonal shift in order to appeal to a different audience?
