What age will you stop reading comics?

#2 Posted by Wolverine08 (49128 posts) - - Show Bio

I'll stop reading comics when I'm dead.

I don't think age has much to do with it. As I get older my taste will probably just change.

When I stop caring about them. Might be next week, might be when I'm dead.

#5 Posted by Yung ANcient One (5166 posts) - - Show Bio

I honestly feel like I should stop right now. I just turned 24 last week. I feel like... I have to start focusing way more on my future than enjoying the moment.

I have said though depending on how many kids I have I might still buy comics but it depends cuz kids are expensive.

@yung_ancient_one: Don't stop living in the moment man. You can plan, but don't kill yourself stressing over the future. Life is meant to be fun.

Never. And I'm very very old.

I'll stop reading comics when one of the following happens: I find another hobby that takes up my time (which actually happens rather often for me), I find no more worthwhile stories involving my favorite characters, if I exhaust myself and make myself despise what I am reading, if the comic companies do something unforgivable to my favorites, or if I get too busy that through force of habit, I stop reading them. I'm going on 24 this month and any of those things have a high chance of happening especially in the coming months when things will be getting very busy for me. So who knows? Often more than not, I never fully stop liking the stuff I like, I just have to get away from it all for a few months or years and return with a fresh perspective later.

Probably never as I dont read comics as regularly as other folks do.

NEVERRRRRRRRRRR!

I don't know...one can't determine the future, but I have a feeling that my comic-book tastes might shift in my older years. I mean I'll always love superheroes, but every now and then, I need a break from the constant fighting and tights and read something else.

#17 Posted by theTimeStreamer (2845 posts) - - Show Bio

never too old for fiction. look at star wars.

#18 Posted by Lvenger (24325 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't know. I might take a temporary break in my last year of university to focus on my final year and the strenuous work I'll have to do in it. But as to when I properly stop reading comics, I don't know yet. Superhero comics always have a special place but if DC and Marvel keep messing up and getting worse and worse, my tastes could shift into the indy realm of comics to perhaps leaving comics altogether. Honestly I can't say because we don't know the future and what might happen.

I plan on reading them, and reading them to my kids. I want to encourage them to read, so as long as I'm alive and not blind that's my plan.

Unless Every Comic Company becomes utter shit, i will stop reading when i'm dead, not before.

Hah! As if people need companies to produce comics. :V

When I burn in Hel!

I'm 30, and I just started.

I'll stop reading comics if I lose interest in and enjoyment of them, but I see no reason for letting age play into that decision.

I'll stop reading comics when I'm dead.

Amen to that, brother.

#27 Edited by Xwraith (27876 posts) - - Show Bio

Either when I'm dead or when there aren't any good ones left.

#28 Posted by wundagoreborn (397 posts) - - Show Bio

I stopped when I was 17. I started again when I was 43. Who knows what the future holds?

#29 Posted by CaptainHoopla (1658 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm 43 and still love them. They are a great escape from real life stress.

Either when I am dead or my favourite characters turn to shit. Which ever one comes first.

#34 Posted by INFINITE_DOOM (275 posts) - - Show Bio

Never, maybe the frequency of reading them might change but never cold turkey.

#35 Posted by RedLantern23 (898 posts) - - Show Bio

I dont think i ever will. Will my pull list get smaller as i get older? Of course. But even if i someday trim it down to one monthly series or one trade paperback i dont think i'll ever stop completely.

#36 Posted by Battle_Forum_Junkie (10324 posts) - - Show Bio

@redlantern23:

Same here. I don't think I'll ever stop enjoying them.

#37 Posted by TDK_1997 (16121 posts) - - Show Bio

That's the question that I have been asked for many years by my parents and friends and I always say that I will never stop reading comic books if they continue to be good and entertaining for my taste.

#38 Posted by NightCrawler358 (202 posts) - - Show Bio

For me its like asking when I'll be too old for novels, of films. I may stop reading everything as regularly or as intensively as I do, but If an amazing series comes out when I'm in my 60s or whatever, who's to say I can't enjoy it.

And I don't think that superhero comics specifically are exclusive to young people, look at the most passionate people in the industry and how old they are!
