Tom Taylor Leaving INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US, Brian Buccellato Will Take Over

After spending two and a half volumes with the dark and surprisingly funny INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US universe, writer Tom Taylor is now saying goodbye to the twisted place. Chapter 14 will be his last one and Brian Buccellato will begin with chapter 15. In case you've fallen behind (tsk-tsk), the series just released chapter 11 on Tuesday. So, why is Taylor departing? Well, it turns out the writer has an extremely busy schedule. Not only is he working on SUPERIOR IRON MAN, but he's also the lead writer on the upcoming animated series The Deep.

According to DC, Buccellato will be "working closely" with Taylor during the switch and he's going to follow the outline Taylor created for the rest of YEAR THREE'S story. As for why Buccellato landed the opportunity, he thinks it could be thanks to one of his recent limited series. "I’d like to think it’s because they thought I was a good match for the series. I think my work on the Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion mini-series that I did last year showed my ability to handle a multitude of characters with dramatic tension and humor. Tom is TERRIFIC at navigating those two worlds simultaneously so I do see some similarities in our storytelling sensibilities." The writer also says he'd be all for writing YEAR FOUR and YEAR FIVE.

A huge thank you goes out to Taylor for all of his excellent work on the series and we look forward to seeing what Buccellato will bring to it! INJUSTICE: YEAR THREE #12 will go on sale next Tuesday. Ugh...year there was turning out to be just as good as year 2. I hope Brian sticks to what Taylor had planned for the rest of year 3.

Its a shame Tom's leaving. I really liked his work on Injustice.

Though I am sure Brian would do an awesome job as well.

Well that's a shame, it's not that there's anything wrong with Buccellato, it's just that it only seemed fitting Mr. Taylor finish the series he started and is most well known for.

Sad to see Tom living, but at least Injustice isn't ending.

This could've been so much worse. Booch is great and it sounds like Taylor will be there for the transitionary period anyways. Injustice is in good hands.

Disappointed to here Taylor's leaving, I thought his Injustice work was nothing short of phenomenal. Still, I thought Buccelleto's Rogues' Rebellion mini was the best thing to come out of Forever Evil, so I'm interested to see where this goes.

This is intriguing. Buccellato is a excellent writer and one of my favorite current writers. His work with on the Flash minor characters (ex: rogues) especially sticks out. I also enjoyed his Batman/Riddler future's end one shot. I get that people are disappointed Taylor is leaving, but they picked an excellent replacement.

This is rather depressing,

Tom Taylor has been easily the best new writer to come out of this decade so far, his work on Injustice has been nothing short of phenuminal, and if it weren't for the strange absence of inner monologues, his Earth 2 run would've surpassed Robinson's. His Superior Iron Man has been great as well. So it's a real shame he won't be finishing his trademark series.

My favourite moment would be when Green Arrow shot an Arrow to Superman's Father by accident and the awesome scene which followed!!!

I dropped this book during the first couple of issues of the third year...characterizations of certain heroes/villains bothered me a lot, and at times it has felt like Taylor was veering into the realm of fan-fic

I like the Injustice comics, but I hate how it's tied to the videogame.

The videogame had an awful story, so the writers have to work with that, making the prequel story always end with what the videogame established.

The writing isn't good, but it's good for what they have to work with. The comics basically salvage the Injustice story.

Nothing against Buccellato, but it really sucks to say Taylor go. His run has been nothing short of fantastic. And as an added bonus, he writes the best Harley Quinn I've seen in the past decade.

Sad to see Taylor go but it will be in good hands. Between the emotional death of Lois to Green Arrows death to Superman getting his Yellow ring, it's hard to pick just one moment as my favorite.
