Ok, first off this is not in a sense a DBZ thread, I just want to inform a couple of people on something cool I found.

Alright, so I was browsing YouTube and found something really awesome (well, in my opinion it is). Some random guy made a Dragonball series with the help of an animation team and called it "Dragonball Absalon." The art isn't the best but I must admit, the animation is spectacular. So far there are only two episodes but check it out (In episode 2, watch the audio remastered version and also watch both in HD)

@unbreakable_fs4: Awesome.. 5/5. Nice plot, nice moves, nice soundtracks (seriously, awesome).. If they added a bit more than art, this could count as what dbgt should've been :D

Thanks for sharing, it's incredible..

Btw.. is it just me or the animation/representation style looks a bit like what we see in prologue of game sequels? The soundtracks are perfect, though.

Wow, the first episode was absolutely amazing! And I thought nothing good could ever come of GT. The story was actually interesting, the characters appealing and not one dimensional and the plot engaging. Man if only GT had been as epic as this.

I'm thinking exactly this lol

This is pretty awesome so far.

Episode 1 was ok, I understand that it was more so building up to what we're starting to see in Episode 2, but it felt a bit slow at times.

Episode 2 was awesome, the fight scene with Goten and the other Sayian was pretty wicked and the action was intense. Though, near the end, I couldn't help but feel that it dragged a little.

My only major complaints is the animation not being as great as it could be, though this could be resolved as/if the series progresses. My other complaint is that the dialogue, at times, comes of as cringe worthy and sometimes a bit boring, but again this is something that could improve in future episodes.

Overall, as a fan-series this is an amazing start and I'm looking forward to future episodes. Speaking of which, any word on Episode 3?

Also, the opening theme is epic. Simply epic.

I know right. I was shocked at how good it was.

I love that Majuub and Pan got married, that the Z Fighters actually kept training to protect Earth and that there's a slight return to power levels albeit in a much more constrained form. Using different levels to rate warriors is a very nice touch that doesn't go too far like the out of hand DBZ power levels.

#15 Posted by unBREAKable_Fs4 (1474 posts) - - Show Bio

@lvenger: yeah, that was surprising that Majuub got together with Pan, I was completely caught off guard. Also I agree about the power levels thing, I'm a little curious about how they handle that. After one of the bad guys analyzed the Z-fighter's power level and came up with three, it got me thinking that maybe power levels are measured by transformation levels or by maybe a power level of one translates to like a million. Either way, I can't wait for the next episode.

This is the seventh time I watched the saiyans jump. This *can't* be just a fan series, right?

#17 Posted by unBREAKable_Fs4 (1474 posts) - - Show Bio

@princearagorn1: haha it's so well made, it's almost hard to believe it's fan made. They did an amazing job, especially that opening song, I can't get enough of it.

Great, now I feel like watching it again :)

#18 Posted by Lvenger (18216 posts) - - Show Bio

@unbreakable_fs4: Perhaps it's a short hand version then as you say? But I thought it was different levels that rate each warrior's power or something like that? And the music and sound effects were really top notch for a fan made animation. It even rivals the editing that Team Four Star do IMO.

That was pretty brilliant. One of the best opening credits I've ever seen. Pretty decent animation and action sequences thus far but my only problem had to be with the audio.

#22 Posted by Deranged Midget (17599 posts) - - Show Bio

@unbreakable_fs4: I'm hoping so. Thus far, the fights have been pretty great and I'm especially excited that some of the other supporting characters like Goten and Majuub are getting the spotlight with their fights. Goten was an absolute boss!

Yeah I'm glad they did something else with the Saiyan attitude to defeat that was interesting yet organically integrated into the Saiyan stance on combat and defeat.

@lvenger: I liked that as well. What was with the 2 trunks though?

#31 Posted by Lvenger (18216 posts) - - Show Bio

@degraaf: One was Future Trunks from the other timeline I think and the other was present Trunks.

Yup, Future Trunks came back again and from the dialogue, it seems like he knows something once again.

I'm hoping we get to see more of Gohan in future episodes, GT put his character on the back-burner so hopefully this series will do him justice.

I really like Future Trunks so I'm glad he's come back. The voice actor for him does a top notch job IMO. And it seems they're going to do more than 3 episodes which is a good thing in my book.

Agreed! I loved Goten's scenes! He was absolutely wicked and it seemed for only being a SSJ2, he was wrecking his opponent with ease. Interested to see what Gohan is capable of now and Majuub was oozing power.

Was he a SSJ2? I should have noticed the electric aura around him. Majuub got some good showings at last because from what I've heard about GT, I won't watch it for the record :P, he got chumped a lot.

Well I would assume so considering he was sitting in first form while sparring with Trunks and after clocking his opponent and sending him flying afterwards, he transforms again into what seems to be SSJ2. Another indicator may be the single bang of hair hanging down similarly to Goku and Gohan.

Good observation, that makes sense now I think about it. He does have the similar hairline Goku and Gohan had in SSJ2. And I loved that the Great Apes could turn into Super Saiyans, not to mention that there's a serum for transforming into an ape now!

Cannot agree more! Honestly, these two episodes have provided more originality and entertainment than Toriyama's Battle of the Gods ever could, despite lacking the insane budget.

I just watched both episodes and I love it. I am not being picky or critical at all because it is purely fan fic and I love it.

I really like that Goten is cool now. I like that they decided to put both Trunks in the same Universe at the same time. I find that very interesting. I like that Goku and Vegeta are MIA at the moment. I really dig the villains as well.

I hope these fans continue and become very popular in Youtube and I hope they get sued... bare with me now... to the point where they have to cancel the series and decide to create their own personal series and their personal series becomes popular and they live quite frankly a financially secure life.

@deranged_midget: . The plot for dragon ball is just a build up for the future of dragon ball if there ever was one.

There's actually a new 9 minute video released, but only the last 48 seconds actually provide a fight scene. The fight scene looks pretty great with the music though.

Also, have you read dragon ball multiverse?

#47 Posted by Lvenger (18216 posts) - - Show Bio

@deranged_midget: Not a fan of BOG I take it? From the synopsis, it appears like Toriyama still hasn't found his originality again, Still at least it was better than GT :P

Nice.

@sondeatheater: Are you referring to Toriyama's new work in regards to the new videos?

And yes I have! I love what Salagir is doing with DBM! Interesting characters and battles! Although, the most recent side story is really dull.

Not really no. I haven't seen the film but I'm rather unimpressed by the plain, unoriginal and completely lazy design for the "famed" Super Saiyan God transformation. The animation looks superb, no doubt about it but the whole thing seems rather hashed.

I will admit though, that is honestly the best opening credits sequence I've ever seen. The animation, some nice foreshadowing and that theme... absolutely amazing and wonderfully catchy. I don't know if it's original or not, but props to the team.
