Tiers Definition

I see those definitions a lot in this site: street level (low, mid, high), mid-tier (low, mid, high), high-tier (low, mid, high), cosmic level...

Is there any consensus about those definitions? How do I know which tier a character belong? What are the criteria for each tier?

I know that's basic but I could never figure that out.

This is what is known as the "Floopay" system that I found on the Guide to Tournament Building.

It may not be entirely accurate but is a good foundation for the Tier System:

Threat Levels:

Street Level

• No more than 2 powers
• Strength max is 4 tons
• Outside of gear, no
• Nobody above peak human speeds and reflexes
• Energy blast maximum strength is no more powerful than a .50 caliber rifle.
• No adamantium or vibranium
• No telepathy

Street Level+

• No more than 5 powers
• Strength Maximum is 25 tons
• Speed below Mach 1
• Reflexes limited to Iron Fist levels
• Durability limited to Spiderman and/or Beast
• Energy blast, maximum strength is no more powerful than a fragmentation grenade
• Limited Vibranium / Adamantium / Enhanced Metals / Enhanced Materials. I will allow Wolverine, but no suits (Black Panther with Vibranium Suit not allowed)
• Limited to mind reading
• Cloners and Duplicators can make up to 3 clones or duplicates.

City Level

• Strength Maximum is 80 Tons
• Speed must be equal to or below Mach 8
• Durability is limited to Iron Man level (Bleeding Edge Armor)
• Energy Blast maximum strength is powerful enough to destroy a building (smaller than a skyscraper, about the size of a bar or liquor store)
• No limitation on enhanced metals
• Can read minds across the city, and can control minds
• Cloners and Duplicators can make up to 5 clones or duplicates

Planetary

• Savage Hulk strength
• Speed limited to Wonder Woman level (below Superman)
• Savage Hulk durability
• Energy Blast maximum strength is powerful enough to wipe out a city
• No limitation on enhanced metals
• Moondragon / Martian Manhunter level telepathy is allowed

Cosmic

• Silver Surfer level characters
• Herald level to be more specific

Cosmic Teambuster

• Below the Tyrant
• Below Skyfather level
• Thanos level characters (including Darkseid, Orion, Despero, etc.)

Lots of these definitions change slightly depending on the user and the tournament; but like I said, good foundation.

To me it went

Street Level(Peak human): Batman,Daredevil, Green Arrow

Superhuman(Enhanced human): Captain America, Deathstroke(Not New 52)

Metahuman: Spiderman ,She-Hulk, Luke Cage etc... below 100 tons

Herald/Planetary: Superman-Silver Surfer level characters Includes high level "bricks",magicians, and herald level cosmic heroes

Transcendants: Thanos and Darkseid

Skyfather: Odin

Cosmic Entities: Galactus, Celestials

Abstracts... Universal, Multiversal, Omniversal..

@sly_141: Hum... that's another way to classify. I think there isn't an agreement about the topic.

@wbr17: yeah thats just my opinion so fe el free to take it with a grain of salt.

Tiers are what you make of them. It depends on your standard for every character, and how you rank powers and abilities. For example I rank character by like a grade based on the powers they have. I like my chart as simple and easy as possible.

S - TOAA, The Presence

A - Galactus, Anti-Montior, and guys like them

B - Superman, Wonder Woman Aquaman, and guys with similar powersets

C - Daredevil, Spider-man, Deathstroke and guys like them.
