I watched the 1990 movie in protest when the new one was released.
It's hokey, but from what I've heard, it's a masterpiece compared to the new one.
I enjoyed it for what it was. The scenes where the stakes were meant to be raised, didn't grab you like the original did. I will say that. This movie is fun if you break it down to the bases sentimentality.
Seriously how does one hate Megan fox? And the movie was fine, it wasn't supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece. It was a good turtles movie.
@blade_r: Its better than the third 90s movie and the entirety of "The Next Mutation".
A lot of the people freaking out about it have their nostalgia goggles on or they're just auto hating from Bay association. The truth is, its about an average action movie. It has a paint by numbers plot and a few decent action sequences but nothing really special. Its not a great movie but its not as bad as many people are claiming.
Thanks. This makes it easier for me not to see it. I'll be seeing Guardians instead.
Very good decision, m8. Guardians is easily my favorite Marvel film.

Nothing beats the original
@erik: Winning an Emmy would be impressive as shit. Considering those awards are only for television (sorry had to do it.)
lol
@allstarsuperman: Leave me alone! I don't watch television!!!
And yet Guardians is still the better film and doesn't have to make a lot of money anyway considering its an unknown project unlike tmnt who's been around for awhile...jus saying
Oh come on, people are being way too harsh on this movie. It seems like anything with Michael Bay and Megan Fox seems fashionable to hate on these days. Sure the movie wasn't perfect but it was definitely enjoyable and lots of fun to watch.
For people who didn't know, Bay didn't direct this movie. He was only a producer

I have actually never seen the orginal films, I saw the end of one and the beginning of another when they were playing them on T.V one day but I got sidetracked. Yeah that sounds about right, there are a lot of Bay haters that bash anything he is attached to, and I can understand the nostalgia thing but I wouldn't bash it for not being what I grew up loving lol.
I saw Cap2, amazing
I saw X-men 6(is it up to six?) I was thoroughly disappointed, but it was VERY VERY good
I can't wait to see The Hobbit 3
I expected everything else coming out this year looked like potential crap, and I will wait for the Redbox rental. NinjTurt was no exception, the last good thing they put out was the movies in the early 90s
PS (I am looking forward to some of the redbox movies...most of all, the moviemade of "all you need is kill"...I hope its good, haven't heard anything.)

a movie director and producer (he may be stated as producer but he has fingers deep in the movies he produces) with a horrible track record: 4 horrible transformers movies, pearl harbor, the purge and now tmnt (the turtles were cool back in the 90s but that translates, in bay's mind, now as black people).
megan fox: the walking example of 'you can not act, but you have a nice pair so you're hired' ''''''''''''''actress''''''''''. she is the protagonist, not the turtles.
yeah, people are just hating to hate. oh and remember when fox called bay hitler? wonder how she fixed that? wink wink hump hump bl0w.
@keenko: Bay didn't even direct it :p
So much hate in one thread. Wasn't even that bad. Oh, and you'll be able to hate on it again in a couple years because a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" sequel has been confirmed and gets a release date of June 3, 2016.
didn't mind it, only thing i didn't like was their height, and Megan.
I use to think everyone was just joining the hate on Megan bandwagon, but anything other than a hot gf or a hot co worker and she is not a very good actor. She was miscast this time. Any who comparing it to the other one would be crazy, what was the old ones plot? the shredder makes kids steal tv's, wallets, and a bunch of pawn shop items from around the city to build an army of smug ninja kids? Where did he even live? In one of the warehouses? Each movie was ridiculous and i loved every minute of it.
fair enough my younger self loved it, the nostalgia lover in me loves it, but when people say this movie ruined their childhood, and totally butchered the cartoon(which ironically butchered the comic), I can see where they are coming from, I am more understanding than most I guess. It was watchable and some parts are laugh out loud funny because of how stupid it was.
They got the personalities right, thank god.
@w0nd: Finally! At least someone else finally said it. The first films Shredder was just as one-note.

I'd actually never really thought about that before.
And while we're at it, was he ever even given a motivation?
@xwraith: I said the exact thing. 2014 Saki wanted to restore honor to the Foot Clan. He even said during his conversation with Kerai that the world wanted to basically reduce them to myths and fairy tales. Sacks only wanted more money.
SPOILER megan fox kills the shredder
No f**king way!

The rat (that became a master of martial arts, basically by watching his owner do it, which for what ever reason is less ridiculous then him learning how to do it on his own in this new movie) scratched him in the face.
now he's shredder. He also didn't seem that surprised to learn the turtles were 5ft5 martial artists.
People go on how crap this new one is, but so was the old ones. Only difference is we were younger and we ate it up. Each version of the turtles has been changed since the comic books. I honestly want a die hard original comic turtle fan come and tell all the people who enjoyed the 80's cartoons and movies that it killed their childhood because it was nothing like the comics.
the 80's one well that's just a mess in itself
Making fun of the plot of this is almost laughable the cartoon shows are all over the place, shredder was a freakin utrom in one of them, who stole the identity of a demon who possess oroku saki...in the 2003 one.
then they go to the future, because why not.
Shredder wasn't even in the 2007 movie, and that one at least attempted to have a twist in it
idw comic they are a reincarnated family from ancient japan who are in the bodies of lab animals
the nicktoons one is self explanitory
but this movie...THIS movie is the one that is for some reason out of line? What about all those versions of the toys we all bought where they were wrestlers, robots, spacemen, monsters, super heroes...we ate those up, but now the looks of these ones are insane? I have no idea why people say their childhood is ruined because quite frankly we were wayyyy more open minded and accepted as children lol. if we saw these hulked out versions as kids we would have liked it, and come to think of it...
This movie did nothing to anyone's child hood. It was just as stupid back then too, we were just younger, dumber, and stfu and watched whatever involved ninjas or humanoid animals.
I guess because I was expecting the same quality of stuff the tmnt have been in before, I am not dissapointed or shocked, I am just older now and I understand things I remember being amazing probably were to my 6 year old brain, but aged poorly. And stacks with a gun was freaking hilarious so that was great.
A die hard fan of the comics needs to put us all in our places.
