What would you guys recommend?
Thinking about getting into anime finally, recommendations?
- Death Note
- Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
- Code Geass
- Ghost in the Shell
Good starter options, and they're not hundreds of episodes and overwhelming like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, or Dragon Ball.

- Helsing
- Ghost Stories
- Trinity Blood
There is a lot of great anime out there....
Cowboy Bebop is honestly the easiest anime to start off with. Nothing to crazy and just one season, also it's considered one of the greatest anime's.
@guardiandevil83: I wish they would have completed the tenjou tenge anime to the end of the manga.
@vvoodst0ck: What genre are you looking for?
Sci-Fi?
Action?
Comedy?
Romance?

Akira
Nausica in the Valley of The Wind
Monster City
Vampire Hunter D
@gamiz7: While Jojo is fantastic.
Please don't have someone pick that up as there first anime. lol
@the_dark_void: Part 1 is the worst and most unoriginal part in JoJo. At least recommend the entire series.
Anyways:
- Samurai Champloo
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
- Ghost in the Shell
- Samurai X
- Space Dandy
- Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
These are good, yet easy anime to hop onto.
@thekillerklok: why not its fantastic , it never gets boring
i also recommend attack on titan
Well, I haven't watched anime since like 2011-2012 but here's some anime's that I really enjoyed
- Eyesheild 21
- Gintama
- Claymore
- .Hack//Roots
- Angel Beats
- Initial D
- Gundam 00
- Amnesia
- High School of the Dead
- Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere (honestly I don't ever remember watching this at all but it was on my CrunchyRoll history)
Trust me..... ALL VERY GOOD ANIME! and not super long. That Monster though.....have fun with that. Crazy story with possibly the best villain in fiction in my opinion.
Listen to this man, only thing I would add is Durarara and Cowboy Bebop.
boku no pico
boku no pico
@mad_titan: You are a very mean person. >__>
Code Geass
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Naruto----->Naruto Shippuden ( There are alot of episodes due to filler episodes watch with caution still really enjoyable)
Tiger and Bunny
Kiba
Hellsing
Death Parade
The World Only God Knows ( Be warned the anime skips some of the interesting chapters from the manga)
Eureka Seven
Also the others alot are recommending like Cowboy Bebop etc..
boku na pico
-_- don't make the poor guy go through the same torture I went through after I was forced to watch it.
On topic, go check out Hunter X Hunter (2011). Critically acclaimed series (and rightfully so) although it is a tad bit slow and generic at the start. It honestly turned into one of the most well thought out and developed shounen series I've ever watched.
@vvoodst0ck: Most Important Rule of Watching Anime: Stay away from schoolgirl/ecchi/harem/magical gIRL/generic shonen shows.
They are cancerous and are a disgrace.
There are many great anime out there, so dont let the bad ones ruin it for you. Some of the best are:
- Code Geass (GOAT)
- Death Note
- Gurren Lagann
- Ghost in the Shell
- FMA Brotherhood
- Cowboy Bepop
- Samurai Champloo
- Hellsing Ultimate
All are excellent shows on par with some of the best western comics and shows IMO.
Steins;Gate if you like brilliantly-made time travel mystery. It's slow at first for character building but I liked it because its humor fit mine
@etheral_dreams: How could you? You would deny him this? Never know he might like it.
@vvoodst0ck: watch cory in the house
or King of the Hill
2 of the most underrated animes ever.
@micah: Highschool DxD...
Not for beginners. Not for sane people. Not for anyone.
But I respect your opinion.
@vvoodst0ck: what do you watch usually or prefer? What are you generally looking for? I'd say you have heard a little about anime before, what would you like to see or avoid?
Action/suspense/gore/school-students/darkness and what not.
Either way, if you're not sure,
Death note
FMA: brotherhood
Code Geass
Or more recently parasyte are safe choices. Not too long, not too weird either.
@vvoodst0ck: Yu Yu Hakusho, trust me it's BA, also if you watch Naruto make sure to also watch SD Rock Lee
If you like zombies and The Walking Dead, give Attack On Titan a try. It's not a zombie anime, but the concept is similar.
I can't bealive that this one is not being recomended more. It was the only thing anime-lovers talked about for an entire year.
it depends on what you're looking for...
try watch Toriko if you want comedy and fighting
HxH if you mostly like fighting and don't care much about comedy (but it's still in it)
try berserk if you want something serious and badass
try death note, kaiji, one outs or Akagi if you like psychological things
try kuroko's basket if you like sports, (or search for the sport you like and there should be at least 1 anime about it)
there are also many other genres so look for something you may like
@beaconofstrength: What? It's unoriginal but it still has the best JoJo.
@the_dark_void: But Jonathan ... Was ridiculously boring compared to the other JoJos. Heck even Jotaro had an awesome Clint Eastwoodish vibe and epic one liners to help him.
My lisf for people trying to get into anime:
Cowboy Bebop
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Samurai Champloo
Death Note
The Devil is a Part Timer (hilarious)
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
There's also a new anime that just started called "Charlotte" and it's pretty good so far.
it depends
there is normal anime like death note, and aot and full metal alchemist
and there is weird as hell stuff
stuff only hardcore, no life weaboos would watch
im talking real weird, tuff that could scar you for life

haha yeah that's the stuff i always end up watching when i'm bored and looking for new anime!! some of them are actually good
@the_dark_void: Jonathan is the worst JoJo; he was just one big cliche. The best is Johnny, followed by Josuke, Jolyne, then Giorno.
@masker: i saw parts of corpse party and elfen lied
now im never the same

Because people began to realize that Attack on Titan was just overhyped. It has some good parts, yes, but overall, it's just... okay. It gets really boring during the middle.
