Comic Con anyone?
The Rock Teases His Casting As SHAZAM!
Wasn't he teasing the role of John Stewart really recently? This is getting a little silly.
EDIT: Ah, he happened to mention that. :3
I think he'd be perfect as Black Adam though. He already played a very similar character in the Scorpion King, and did a great job of it. The look, the build, the skin tone, it's all perfect. Hopefully that's who he was talking about, and not Shazam/Billy Batson. The description he gave still fits.
"Just say the word" though, that was pretty brilliant.
And that pretty much confirms Hal will be GL in JL.
Well not really. Just that they had made a GL film and decided they wanted to use another character instead.

So you're saying GL won't be in JL?
Ultraman?
Its probably either Captain Marvel or Black Adam.

Pretty sure when he said "say the word" it was a reference to Shazam.

Yes, I got the reference. I'm throwing out other names because that's a far more interesting discussion.
Please be Black Adam. Please be Black Adam. PLEASE BE BLACK ADAM!!!
Thank god if so, I was scared he was John Stewart which I don't see him pulling off.
He said he wanted to but DC wasn't sure since they already went with a GL and it didn't work
GL was just a crappy movie. Wasn't really RR fault, he didn't help much but he didn't make the movie bad. He's just always Van Wilder pauses.
but the movie was generic and looked horrible. its like they never seen the GL and refused to look at the comic and DCAU(First Flight perfection Year One great) and just went on someone's description.
anyway would have like Stewart but I rather Black Adam and no chance for Shazam. Rock would do well with DC. in Faster as a serious killer(the first half) was pretty good.
For some reason I can't imagine him ever playing a villain of sorts again and I don't know about them making him Shazam. We shall see what happens though and I have faith in Rocky!
@justthatkid: I suppose if it's a tossup between never having your character appear in film or having him appear but an inadequate actor playing him.

He's never really played a true villain, which is why it would be a good idea to give him a shot at one.
Though, I think hero is more likely as well in the end. The Rock is the type of dude you can market around. Affleck is too polarizing, Cavill isn't a superstar and barely anyone knows who Momoa and Gadot are.
The Rock however, gives you a hugely marketable presence. And people will pay to see him. He was the highest paid actor last year afterall.

Well in the Mummy 2 he was technically a villain although the role was small if I remember correctly. But yeah, you're absolutely correct when you say he is marketable and you can build a film around. Problem is, if he's Black Adam, then he isn't THE guy and he's really in just a supporting role that might only last 1-2 movies tops. Him being Shazam doesn't feel like the right fit for me IMO which is why I said we just have to wait and see!
@fresh_prince: Technically sure. But they mostly just CGI'd him in there. He never even spoke I don't think.

I can't seem them introducing Black Adam without Shazam first. Also the Rock didn't appear in the Mummy in person for more than a few mins.
I would love to see him play Black Adam but I think he would be a perfect Shazam. He has the look without a doubt and can do the cockiness of a kid no problem.
Really diging the love Rock has been getting lately.
How can you not like the guy?? He's so charismatic.

And he has really stepped his acting up.

I love how he answered the question too. He pretty much confirmed he's in league with DC and who the character is, without just plain telling us, smart answer.
Ultraman?
His ego won't allow him to be used as a villain. He is very much like Hugh Jackman who wanted to be in the Avengers.
Shazam or Black Adam. I'd actually really be impressed, considering the current tone of the DC Universe, if they went with Black Adam as an anti-hero and the main character of the proposed "Shazam" movie, instead of as a villain for Shazam.
@saint_wildcard: The Rock has played a villain and even said that he wants to be the next bond villain.
@saint_wildcard: :P.
I dunno. I think Rock is smarter than people give him credit for - at least in terms of marketing. I think its possible there is some misdirection going on here because the "Just say the word" was too obvious.
