Oliver Coipel vs Jim Lee...who's art do you prefer?
These are two of the best artists in the industry. Which is your favorite?
I love Jim Lee's style...the problem I have is that his characters all tend to look the same. Superman looks like Cyclops looks like Gambit.
What I like about Coipel is that everyone has an individual look.
This really shouldn't be in the Battle Forum though.
@7am_Waking_Up_In_The_Morning: How is he in any way trying to catch up or be him? He is simply a great artist putting out great work.
I'm not saying he's not. It's just almost too cliche, the style already foreshadowed by an original.
Like comparing Kazuki Takahashi's Yugioh style to Hidenori Kusaka Pokemon style of art.
If we're going to compare it should be really distinctive. Like Jim Lee art vs Alex Ross' art
Nay. The Sword is mightier still. You can dip a sword tip in ink and write or draw with it. You cannot, conversely, dispatch the Hulk with an easywriter pen.
On topic: I like Copiel simply because of the fact that Cyborg and the Lantern (John Stuart?) are the only two in that picture getting clobbered. What gives Jim?
@7am_Waking_Up_In_The_Morning: Olivier coipel art is nothing like jim lee. They are so distinct. The only similarities being the the medium they use. Jim lee is gritty and dirty while olivier is simplistic yet detailed. Jim lee or alex ross is no contest. Jim lee wrecks ross. A better match up would be Jim lee or Gabrielle del'otto.
