Poll: The Joker vs Doctor Doom! (155 votes)

The Joker 54%
Doctor Doom 46%

A while ago I made a thread asking if The Joker and Doctor Doom were the two most popular villains in their respective comic universes to fans. Doctor Doom won the vote for favorite Marvel villain in @k4tzm4n's Question of the week HERE and currently The Joker is leading the polls in the DC version (and will most likely win) So, I ask, which villain do YOU like more personally? Will The Clown Prince of Crime get the last laugh? or will The Lord of Latveria reign supreme?

Doom , genius , powerful armor/cybernetics, and has magic.

#3 Posted by TheCannon (19008 posts) - - Show Bio

Doom is a much better character. I vote Dr. Doom.

Joker will win the poll though. More fanboys.

Personally, I think every incarnation of the Joker is better than Doom, and I mean every one.

Doom is better

Joker is cool but Doom has Doombots, magic, technology & a country at his command

Doctor Doom is an infinitely better and more interesting villain than Joker IMO.

I couldn't disagree more, and Joker's not even my favorite villain. :)

Doom Superior. Clown Inferior.

@omnicrono:

I don't find Joker to be a compelling villain at really besides Heath Ledger's interpretation. His comic book version just "eh" to me, and has been deteriorating for years IMO. He isn't half as great a villain as Doom in my book.

Doom for me. He is the man.

#13 Edited by Omnicrono (1902 posts) - - Show Bio

@cap10nate: Precisely one of the reasons I find Doom to be silly - "None may touch Doom!" "Doom's word is law!" "Look at me! I'm Doom and I am talking in the third person!" *rolls eyes*

lol. So silly.

Doom is supreme!

#16 Posted by Wolverine08 (43582 posts) - - Show Bio

@omnicrono:

I've always liked arrogant villains like Lex Luthor, Doctor Doom, etc. so the third person speech from Doom has never bothered me. Anyways, I dare you to read Books of Doom, and still think Doom isn't a great villain! I DOUBLE DARE YOU! Lol.

I'm so glad my cousin isn't here right now.

@wolverine08: To each his own I guess.

Doom is one of the dumbest geniuses in comics, in my opinion. He's just hard for me to take seriously half the time. And that's doubly sad because it's clear that most writers intend for him to be taken seriously.

EDIT: And I've read my fair share of books with Doom in them. Most likely not going to change my view on this any time in the near future. ;)

True. Doom is both arrogant and he makes dumb decisions. ;)

True, and Doom is both arrogant and dumb.

He really isn't dumb, but his biggest weakness is that he lets his arrogance hinder his world class genius from making sagacious decisions. Can't blame him though, with the life he had as a kid, his arrogance may have been the only thing that allowed him to rise to where he is. He'd be better served by emulating the humility of his rival (Mr. Fantastic) though.

Haha, Doom would be more successful if he has humble like Reed. He already has an overall versatility advantage over Reed, and if he was more humble, he would be better able to use that versatility to the best of its ability. But we can't have that, me and other Doom fans love Victor's arrogance :D

Joker!

#29 Posted by War Killer (20337 posts) - - Show Bio

Personally I like Joker more.

#30 Posted by Blackdog2009 (1855 posts) - - Show Bio

Both are overrated as hell by fanboys. With the Joker it's gotten out of hand. Writers dumb everybody down to make him look good. But it's not fun for me. Dr. Doom is basically written to be brilliant but too fcukd up in the head that when you think about it, he comes off as a retard. And with that said, I'll head out before you all kill me! :)

And there you go. Just because people enjoyt something you don't like it doesn't make them fanboys. I voted Doom, but your namecalling is uncalled for.

Joker. He makes half the Marvel villains look like jokes.

I prefer Doom.

#36 Posted by Mulder15 (331 posts) - - Show Bio

I personally don't see the appeal of Doom. While he's the best F4 villain he's not the best Marvel villain let alone Comic Villain.

Read Books of Doom by Ed Brubaker mate.

Doom for me. He is the man.

Joker would be dead within minutes simply for showing up dressed as a clown! Doom would not tolerate him at all!

Easily DOOM!

I would do that but it's out of production and costs £50

True. Doom is both arrogant and he makes dumb decisions. ;)

But similar can be said for Joker. He makes no sense most of the times. Like him not wanting to find out Batman's identity because it would "ruin his fun". It's like the most overrated POS (Piece of Sh*t) I've ever seen. It's like he makes no sense and they try their very best to make him seem complex. Most even say that he's an overrated clown.

I mean,I like Joker (I like Dr. Doom more),but I am just providing an argument from what other people may think being that they can argue points for Joker as well.

But again, not me. I like both Joker and Dr Doom (I like Dr. Doom better),and that doesn't mean that Joker isn't complex and awesome in my eyes (because he is),I was just saying that other people can say the same thing. (and I have seen other people that say that anyway).
