SPOILER ALERT
The greatest fictional character of all time?
Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker or Han Solo, Darth Vader, the list goes on
@lateralus: He isn't technically fictional, just his divinity is. That said I'm going to throw Demonbane out there for the pure insanity factor.
Jesus.....flame on
This
Obviously this is way too subjective to give a definitive answer, but Indiana Jones was my personal favorite growing up.
I think Superman, Spider-Man and Batman deserve recognition.
@laytonc97: you have been loyal to spider-man. He is happy that you chose him as your number one. Spider-Man will now grant you true peace
For the most culturally influential fictional character, I nominate Oedipus. The main character of one of the most important plays of Sophocles, the man who brought character development in drama to another level. Aside from the fact that he is universally known and that Oedipus the King inspired numerous playwrights such as William Shakespeare, he has also been introduced into popculture through the psychological works of Siegmund Freud.
The best fictional character for me personally? The Devil aka professor Woland from The Master and Margarita.
Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman over everyone.
Bruce Wayne/Batman over everyone.
Batman, no contest.
/thread.
We're talking about fictional characters. Not real life gods.
Flagged for insulting my religion.
@the_caped_crusader: youre forgetting spider-man exists.. i mean i dont know how, with being one of the most popular superheroes/ thread
@_nox_: way to steal my joke
@spider_manwins
I don't mean to pee on your parade or anything but Batman worship jokes have been around longer than your posts.
You wouldn't happen to be the other Spidermanwins who was part of the vinersaurs?
For once, thank you.
@_nox_: spider-man is eternal.. so no
vinersarurus? wtf
Dracula? Adding a fictional "Vampire" story to Vlad should make our real historical bad boy fictional?

Martian Manhunter
Plastic man
Black Canary
Doctor Strange
Iron Man
Hulk
Thor

Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman over everyone.

Hm...hm...hm...nah.
Nope. Sorry. Don't see it.
Now, Superman I totally see as being the greatest fictional character of all time.

In...your...dreams.
@the_caped_crusader: My dream...your reality...it's all the same.

Batman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Every fictional character in existence
@the_caped_crusader: in all honesty,
superman is and will be the superhero icon...
batman and spidey are the two who are always neck in neck over one another. In sheer popularity, id rate spidey and bats over superman, but in iconicness, supes is above both of them..
Superman he is the reason DC exists he clearly inspired Goku after the end of DB without him we would lose lots of value in comics anime and manga. We could also lose parts of other things the likes of George RR Martin got into writing cos of Golden Age DC Comics. Also he sets a morale example for the modern hero which has been passed on to many many others i assure you without superman this site would not exist he is one if not the most important fictional character of all are lifetimes not because of the way he acts or that his stories are good but what he did.
This is possibly the toughest debate ever conceived how ever I could probably put together a top 10 list for you
1.Super man
2.Goku
3.Batman
4.Luke skywalker
5.Groot (Movie addition)
6.Gandalf
7.Zuko (a.t.l.a.b)
8.Mario
9. NOT SPIDERMAN LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLO
10. Ben 10 (original)
@citizensentry: MARVEL FANBOY ALERT!!!!
sry I could'nt contain it

I need to read that again for posterity, it was incredible from what I remember but I had the English translation and can't read Russian unfortunately. Always recommend this as the best book I have read though. Now you've piqued my interest.
@dinkleberg92: u left out spidey in that list...
