Poll: The Comic Vine 2013 Movie Awards VOTING: Best Animated Movie (551 votes)

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox 56%
Superman: Unbound 8%
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 36%

Welcome to the second edition of the Comic Vine Movie Awards! We know there's plenty of fantastic looking movies heading our way in the years to come, but let's take some time to reflect on just how much awesomeness was packed into 2013. We each have our favorites and now you have the opportunity to tell the world why these films deserve praise.

Keeping it limited to just comic book movies would restrict matters, so we included a few films we know the community really dug this year, too. We've created 10 categories -- ranging from best director to best movie -- and ultimately, the winner of each category will be determined by your votes. Will Marvel and DC take a majority of the awards or will one of the other films swoop in and earn extra praise? Go get your vote on, Viners!

To vote in other categories, check out the main article which will be located on the homepage!

Winners will be announced next Monday (12/30/13).

There is three every year.

I voted Dark Knight Returns pt 2. Batman vs Joker, Batman vs Superman. The voice acting and the drama. Oh, the drama!!

Not major features. One year there was 4 but it was a collection of the shorts. Regularly, there is 3 full length features. 2012 had three, 2011 had three.2014 will have three. Need I go on??

Flashpoint and it isn't even close for me.

#13 Posted by Lvenger (20864 posts) - - Show Bio

Flashpoint was overly gory and rushed in terms of its storyline and inclusion of the source material too. Not the best year for comic book animated films IMO but Superman Unbound delivered a solid adaptation with good voice acting and great action sequences. That gets my vote.

Ok so in 2005 there wasn't 5 animated movies out? NEED I GO ON????

There wasn't. The DC comics premiere label began in 2007 I believe, and since then there has been no more than 3 releases a year unless there was a compilation like Tales of the Black Freighter or the the shorts collection. Not actual feature length films.

Btw. Whats with some of you people, Its like you people have an incessant need to be right all the time or something. Totally unwilling to concede. Despite factual evidence that proves otherwise.

Except this isn't the DC Animated movie awards, Dark Horse, Marvel and others make them as well.

Let's take 2007 for example.

The Condor

The Invincible Iron Man

Hellboy: Blood and Iron

TMNT

Mosaic

Dr Strange: Sorcerer Supreme

Superman: Doomsday.

Oh I'm the one that always needs to be right? No, your the one that jumped all over me to try and correct me that there as never been more than three animated movies in one year.

It disgusts me that Flashpoint is leading. My least favorite DCAOF to date.

#18 Posted by SynCig (495 posts) - - Show Bio

TDKR part 2 without even a small doubt. Flashpoint was okay but TDKR was masterful. It is my favorite of all the DCAU films.

#19 Posted by RustyRoy (13347 posts) - - Show Bio

Haven't watched Flashpoint or Unbound and I liked TDKR so...

Flashpoint

#24 Posted by mk111 (3141 posts) - - Show Bio

I think you guys forgot:

Iron Man: Rise of Technovore

Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United.

Whatever, Flashpoint wins.

#25 Posted by BlackLegRaph (731 posts) - - Show Bio

I'd have gone with Dark Knight Returns, but Flashpoint included so many characters, and hopefully, that will lead DC to remove the spotlight from Batman and Superman and explore the potential of their vast world!!

What a dry year...

Teen Titans Go! (HA!)

#27 Edited by GrenadeFlow (1570 posts) - - Show Bio

Flashpoint got my vote

#28 Posted by The_Comebacks (210 posts) - - Show Bio

The Dark Knight Returns part two was great, I enjoyed Flashpoint more (after a second viewing-the first time was a little graphic).

Flashpoint. I enjoyed it heavily

Flashpoint was good but i felt that TDKR part 2 was better in every way, especially the fights

#31 Posted by staypuffed (145 posts) - - Show Bio

Didn't get to watch Flashpoint but TDKR2 was incredible. Gets my vote.

#32 Posted by TheFirstLantern (1509 posts) - - Show Bio

If this wasn't just comic book movies then Frozen should win. But it's just Comic Book Movies so yes JL:TFP

#33 Edited by GothamRed (2564 posts) - - Show Bio

so iron man/hulk: heroes united and Iron Man: Rise of Technovore don't get to compete?

#34 Posted by Grimoire (549 posts) - - Show Bio

Did not like Paradox.

#35 Posted by feedonatreefrog (234 posts) - - Show Bio

Flashpoint because FLASH.

#36 Posted by Lone_Wolf_and_Cub (5155 posts) - - Show Bio

Dark Knight Returns by a landslide.

#37 Posted by frogdog (3310 posts) - - Show Bio

so iron man/hulk: heroes united and Iron Man: Rise of Technovore don't get to compete?

It is a topic about the best....

#38 Edited by GothamRed (2564 posts) - - Show Bio

@frogdog: I liked both better than superman: unbound, and in certain ways better than flashpoint, and anyway regardless of the quality of the film all the live action films got a chance to compete.

#39 Edited by Vaeternus (9410 posts) - - Show Bio

Flash by FARR! DKR was good, but Flash really impressed me and unlike others stayed very true to the comic which I liked. Brainiac wasn't bad though, best part of that movie was when Lois flips Brainiac the bird lol
