It can be as simple as to making you love a new character to understanding a character's background etc.
For me its helping me branch into comics a lot easier and understand the different universes.
The best thing the new 52 did for you personally?
Showed me how beast Aquaman was
Done alot of good for themselves more than for me. Got me heavily into comics and now they take all my money haha. Also made me like character like Aquaman who i sued to hate.
Successful relaunch of Swamp Thing and Animal Man titles.
Great new take on Wonder Woman.
Andrea Sorrentino on I'Vampire and later Green Arrow.
Made me appreciate Aquaman as a character and his power sets.
Made me really really like MMH after what he did to despero. I like the fact that he realises sometimes his powers require him to be a little extreme at times.
Finally gave us a solid origin for the Justice League. Which, I'll admit, was a pretty good comic. (The animated movie not-so-much, but I digress...)
Cheetah's new origin was also really cool.
And they gave us a story starring the Legion of Doom.
(See folks? I'm not completely against the New 52)
Lemire and Sorrentino's Green Arrow.
I've heard a lot of good about New 52 Aquaman. Can anyone recommend me any story arcs? Unfortunately, I can't fit it into my pull list.
So this NEVER happened:
Technically it never did. That's the Pre-Crisis DCU and got erased after the Spectre took Linda Danvers back.
@guru_crack: @mad_titan: @thevivas: @mr_winchester: not trying to be a dick and I'm not an Aquaman fanboy, I've just always really liked the character. Its been a point of contention with me that the New 52 changed Aquaman's character or made him cool. Both Grant Morrison and Peter David wrote a strong, fierce, non seahorse riding Aquaman years before Geoff Johns was ever writing comics. Even though I really liked John's run on the book it irk's me that he gets credit for making Aquaman a character to take seriously, when that should have been the case all along.
It changed my perspective on Aquaman to a positive one. Made me like Batman twice as much as I already did. Learned a lot about Superman and related characters. I love the art from it, it looks spectacular I like it significantly more than I like Marvel comics art for the most part. Got me into some characters I usually wouldn't care about.
I didn't read comics till the New 52 only Pre 52 comic I read was Zatanna which lasted like 15 issues.
It changed the way I view the world. Because of it, I'm a better person and learned how to love life.
It helped me get into Aquaman and Wonder Women, so that's pretty cool.
@longbowhunter: I'm sure he was always beast, I just didn't know anything about him or read anything about him before the New 52.
@longbowhunter: Nothing promotes a characters better than a solid solo series, though.
@longbowhunter: Thank you for that Aquaman post. Love when people know of pre-52 badass Aquaman.
Allowed me to start reading comics.

It made me care about Animal Man and Swamp Thing, as well as showed everyone how awesome Aquaman is.

I'm glad the New 52 series gave you an appreciation for the character.

Aquaman hasn't always been handled well, but there's no shortage of good pre 52 Aquaman stories. I've always liked this miniseries.
Martian Manhunter's and Stargirl's friendship has been interesting. I'm happy to see people finally respecting Aquaman and forgetting his Silver Age image. I mean Aquaman has always been cool and while I love the Silver Age with all of its ridiculousness it bothered me that so many had that view on Aquaman after all these years. I mean Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman (what happened to her was just plain crazy! Crazier than Superman and Aquaman combine.), the Flash, Green Lantern, and every other hero got to move on from that image, but Aquaman. It made no freaking sense!
New 52 introduced me to Damian and the kid is now one of my favorite Robins. Before the New 52 I would occasionally buy the new comics though I spent a great time collecting back issues when I first got into comics. Loved the original Flash New 52 run. Wonder Woman from what I read was good. Though I wish Donna and Wally could be included and Didio wasn't holding back characters.
It made me get into Nightwing and jump started my interest in comics. Before N52 I only picked up Batman GNs and the typical stuff like Watchmen.
@gokubeatsuperman: wat...
So this NEVER happened:
Technically it never did. That's the Pre-Crisis DCU and got erased after the Spectre took Linda Danvers back.
i think this is still canon the pre 52 superman has been brought up in the new 52 and pandora is a backdoor to bring back the pre 52 stories
@gokubeatsuperman: That was Pre-Crisis Superman. Pre-Crisis multiverse in general doesn't exist anymore let alone this altered one. Linda Danvers isn't in the New-52 and hasn't been seen in DC since her one cameo in Reign in Hell (2008).
@gokubeatsuperman: @night4345: Yeah, I was just joking.

Was thinking the exact same thing.
@xiix: That may be the case, but can't like something you have never read and its the New 52 that made me decide to buy all the titles to get the jist of the reboot, but would love a few suggestions on what other good Aquaman stories there are as I really enjoyed the New 52 Aquaman. Would love to see him with his hook for a hand.
Reinvigorated my love of DC comics in general and my love of Superman in particular (those last five years or so were rough).
Removed Superman's red underwear
