@entropy_aegis: Shouldn't you read all of these arcs before making that judgement? The pictures sure look pretty.

I can definitely agree with the top 3. Death of Phoenix is probably my all-time favorite story.

I agree with the top ten but I think you could have substituted some of the lower ranking moments.

I love that Ozymandias made it into the top 10 list. I hadn't found the #1 is all that shocking or great, but i think some of these were that way because ive grown up knowing some of them. Im a younger person and have always seen many of these mentioned. Im sure had i been reading these moments when they came out I would have a agreed but my #1 would have to be Ted Kord finding it was Max Lorrd who was out to get the supers! But thats just me

"No more mutants" should REALLY be one this list. I'm not saying in the Top 10, but somewhere most definitely.

I think a lot missed this part in each post:

We make no pretense at any academic objectivity here - - these aren't supposed to be the most "important" to the history of the medium. These are simply the times where we've been so wrapped up in a story that we literally had to say "Wow!" when we turned the page.

Death of Superman was not a shock. We all knew it was coming. Superman and Doomsday punching each other to death with the final blow?

But you also knew that Peter Parker was going to die, but he's on the list. Heck, it even said it in the title. O.o lol

I have to say this failed. The Death of Superman should be #1. People even outside of comics heard about this. The number 1 comic moment here if anything should be #50 if that.

Yeah, sorry guys, but this list just isn't that good. Here's what could have made it better (at least in my opinion):

  • The Death of Superman - Doesn't matter if you "saw it coming" or not, it's still widely considered to be one of the most pivotal and memorable moments in comic book history.
  • John Constantine cons Hell's unholy trinity into curing his lung cancer - I'm biased because this is a personal favorite, but objectively speaking this not being on the list makes it all the more weak. To this day, Constantine's greatest con stands as the crowning achievement of Vertigo's best character.
  • Cyclops and Emma start their new relationship - Grant Morrison's brilliant New X-Men ended with a truly stunning moment. Phoenix frees Cyclops of his guilt so that he can start a new life with Emma Frost as they lead the X-Men together. This set the stage for Joss Whedon's exceptional Astonishing X-Men, and changed the course of the X-Men for the better.

well comicvine has admitted to bias. I do think Superman's death should have been there if they put spider man's one.

I disagree with #1. That moment was cool and all but it was sort of outright forgettable to other things featured on the list.

Heck the scene where it turns out Batman is alive right after that fight is better than the fight itself.

I mean no disrespect, but I honestly couldn't stomach that scene from The Dark Knight. It was a complete betrayal of everything I believe Batman to be about.

This. Overall though, I did really enjoy the list and it was good for the most part. Leaving out the Death of Superman entirely is pretty bad though. Shocker or not, seeing that last image of Lois holding a beaten and bloodied Superman just made me be like wow.

What about the death of Gwen Stacy. That ended the silver age of comics. As a Spidey fan-boy, this has to be on the top ten.

I agree with others here, I expected the death of superman to be on the list. Yes it was the title of the story, but people didnt actually think that he was going to die, but of course, the batgod has to be on top, which is insane.

Horrible top ten outside of Wolverine's skeleton. I'm bored and annoyed to death by the X-Men but that is something even I was surprised to hear about and kind of want to read. Batman dropping Guy was pretty awesome too.

Bullseye killing Elektra, Daredevil kills Bullseye, Death of Superman, Death of Captain America, Ra's Al Ghul steals Batman's parents' bodies, Onslaught kicks Juggernaut's ass, Dr. Doom takes over the world, Aquaman's hand is eaten by piranhas, Death of Supergirl during the Crisis, Savage Dragon gets a hole blown through him by Overlord, Barbara Bordon shot by Joker were greater moments than a lot of these.
