Part One of the 2014 Comic Vine Movie Awards focused on the characters who populate these fictional worlds. We asked you to think about who your favorite hero, villain, and supporting character was from this year's variety of movies. Don't worry if you can't choose just yet because you don't need to make up your mind until Friday. Oh, and if you haven't checked that out yet (for shame!), you can CLICK HERE to make your way over there and support your top choices. Now, we're presenting three more categories for you to think about. These no longer focus on the people in front of the character. Instead, we're asking you to think about three key parts of these movies: the script, visuals, and directing. Which one stunned your eyes with its special effects and cinematography? Which director(s) left the strongest impression? And which script was the most thought-provoking or simply delivered a huge amount of fun?

No Caption Provided

There's three more categories on the way, so be sure to check the homepage Monday for part three! Once again, you can CLICK HERE for part one's categories and voting for all of these polls will stay open until next Friday. That should give you more than enough time to really give these options plenty of thought, right? Have fun voting and supporting your top choices!

Floating Magneto and mutant-vs-sentinel battles I thought were even better visuals than Guardians or Cap. The plane sequence with Logan, Xavier, Magneto and Beast was incredible ... Fassbender, holy moly.

Xmen definitely had the best script. It went way beyond being just an action movie and had very strong main characters that lead the plot.

Captain America is pure fanboy. I loved it but Dawn of the Planet of the Aoes had a better script by far.

Looks like Winter Soldier is really popular on this site.

Also, I'm a bit disappointed Assault on Arkham didn't get nominated but oh well.

I strongly believe that if I had seen Dawn of The Planet of the Apes already my list would be different, but for now...

Best Script: Captain America

This one was the toughest for sure, but the Winter Soldier pulled through. Honestly, it's the best Marvel film since Iron Man, and joins it's place as one that could stand without the Marvel logo(crutch). The script was just tight, smooth, and fun. Singer almost pulled the win but among various little problems, my girl Storm still got shafted lol

Best Visuals: GotG

- This was the only easy one for me. I may think GotG is largely mediocre to average in script, direction, and action but i'd be damned if the visuals weren't amazing. Godzilla was a close second.

Best Director: Lego Movie

- This one was tough, but I gotta hand it to Miller and Lord. Directors are much more involved in animated movies than they are live-action ones, and these two just delivered with the lego movie. Singer was coming in second and the Russo Bros in third.

the fact that bryan singer isnt winning those categories shows how little the vine users know about screenplay and directing.

@k4tzm4n: Just a question: when you say best script do you mean best dialogue or best script as in overall screenplay?

They're two very different things so that's why I ask.

Best director has to be Brian Singer, Best script GotG, probably the funniest movie I've seen all year, Best visuals Amazing Spiderman 2, that slow-mo scene in Times Square is the coolest thing I've seen all year, as well as Gwen's slow-mo fall in the clocktower.

Singer definitely beats the Russo brothers in direction, but the X-Men script doesn't beat the Winter Soldier one IMO. There were just too many little inconsistencies and holes in DoFP that allowed Winter Solider to topple it. I know some of them were needed in order to correct the messed up timeline but it still hurts the film a bit.

Voted for the apes in all three categories(Last time I voted twice for them)

Anyways, this is a popularity contest where people are mostly voting for GotG or CA:WS while the ones that really deserve it are DotPotA, X-MDFP and to some extent, The Lego Movie

@buttersdaman000: Thats what made it better in my opinion. Most directors would focus on trying to keep it consistent which is impossible in Xmen world. Singer knew it was a mess and he made his own new Xmen world even erasing his own movies. Thats a bold move.

Fair enough point, but we didn't even get answers for questions everyone was wondering -- Why does Wolverine have adamanitum? How did Kitty get her new powers? Two simple throw away explanations would have solved plot holes. Then you also have the quicksilver plot hole, the continued underutilization of Storm and Colossus (IMO), and couple more minor issues. All this together was enough to bring the Winter Soldier script to the forefront even though it was much simpler and less...daring...But if the DoFP scrip had been polished just a bit more, it would take the cake easily. But, as is, TWS edged through.

Director: Gareth Edwards because he showed actual restraint when dealing with blockbuster bluster. Refusing to give good views of the Kaiju for the first half of the movie. The Hawaii sequence is an excellent example of this, focusing on the destruction caused and forcing us to imagine the monster bringing it. And even when he dose pull back in the final showdown, he consitently resets the camera by framing the Kaiju through other frames or fromt he human perspective.

Loading Video...

Close runner up would be Matt Reeves for dealing with and constructing the first half of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The Russo Brothers are fine directors but there's a reason why they are directing Avengers 3+4. They take notes real well and because of TV copy style real well and not in the good Tarintino sense

Script: Mark Bomback Rick Jaffa Amanda Silver script for Dawn is fantastic in its use of blockbuster conventio but never forgetting and dealing with the humanity of both Man and Ape.

James gunn is a good director but GotG is more bluster and bravado than craftshmanship.

Visuals: The Lego: Movie because when you trick me multiple times between actual Brickfilm and CG you know you're doing the right thing.
