Test of Strength- Spiderman Vs Luke Cage

This is simply a debate of power, not who would win by KO or something.

Luke Cage, but about equal if Spider-Man has the power boost from The Other story arc.

I think that Spider-Man has the better lifting feats, but only because he has alot more issues, and situations where he is forced into pushing his limits. I would wager Cage to be Stronger. He has performed a Thunderclap (albeit, it was a weak one, but this is a ability usually reserved for bricks). Luke and Spider-Man fought each-other back in the 70's and were more or less equal when it came to strength, and a Handbook entry (How Strong is Spider-Man) even puts them on the same tier (Super-Middleweights). Since then, Cage has been permanently amped- Peter hasn't. When Luke Cage formed the New Avengers and was possessed by Amaggatto- punching Thing far away, Peter even mused "I've always wondered who would win in a fight, Cage or Thing" or something to that effect. Now of course , Ben would beat Luke, and easily at that, but considering that Peter has flat out stated he couldn't beat Ben if he was on his worst day- I would say that Cage is stronger.

Peter/SpOck should beat Lucas in a fight.

On paper Luke is stated to be stronger but in all honesty Pete has far superior feats of strength so i've gotta go with Spider-man.

I'd agree that Peter has the better feats for the reasons I addressed, but I'd argued against them being far inferior.

Considering he's trashed around houses- yes.

@laflux: Hulk trashes houses and he only weighs a bit over a ton. Spider-man trashes cars and yet he only weighs 167lbs. Weight to strength ratio isn't a good comparative. Spider-man can't hurt Hulk with his strength but he's strong enough to lift him.

@strider92: By putting his hand and feet through them. So of course he is heavy. His weight size and strength increase proportionately with his size. And Peter has trashed buildings, but not as result of simply applying his weight. And Savage hulk weighs 1000 lbs *insert troll-face*

OK so i read what i could about Spiderman: the other and though it does mention enhanced strength, it doesnt say by how much. , would look still be even with peter embracing The Other?

Official Marvel site has him weighing in at 68.4 tons. Pretty impressive strength feat for Cage.

Cage has better consistent strength, but Peter has shown he push beyond his normal limits to some true impressive levels when he desperately needs to (like holding up the Daily Bugle from collapsing for example). But on an average day, I'd say Cage.

Yea I'm sure Luke is stronger than spidey had ever been, and tho he doesn't have that many show off feats his battle feats are impressive.

As for the topic at hand, Peter's feats blow Luke's out of the water. Generally though, Luke is the stronger one.

Powerman is stronger than Spiderman.

Didn't Luke start out as class 2 and Peter was class 10? They've both gotten stronger since then but even on paper I think spideys stronger. Cage is only better in durability.

Cage is more durable. But no way is he stronger then spidey.

Spider-Man's base strength AT REST is 10 tons.

He can lift more with effort, and when I say effort, I mean anything 40 tons and up.

He lifted a light armored tank (25-40 tons) swiftly up off the ground and sling shot it towards another tank with such force the two tank compressed against eachother and exploded.

He also lifted a side of the Daily Bugle Building conjuring strength out of desperation. You can judge if this is over 100 tons or not.

Actually Spidey's rest strength is at least 15 tons. Plus Cage even on paper was suppose to be much weaker then Spidey despite his enhanced durable skin. However they have both gotten stronger over the years but I still think Spidey is the stronger of the 2. He just holds back more often than Cage.

I personally have never thought of Luke Cage as stronger then Spidey. I can see them as equals but no more then that. Just because Cage has tougher skin doesn't mean he's stronger. Try comparing Luke to Wonder Woman (and SHE'S not even bullet proof) and you will see the difference.

Ont of my fave spider-man moments is when he was facing the F4 in the VENOM tpb, and thing says "what are you going to do? punch me?" So spidey picks him up and hurls him away.

spider-man is far stronger he just holds back . luke cage has super strength but i think just a few tons (2-5 range) he just has attitude and plays the tough guy . i think he is the weakest strong guy out there . maybe triton from inhumans is weaker? lol

Tougher. Luke is supposed to be portrayed as Tougher. There's a difference. Spidey should at least be as strong if not stronger then Cage.

Spidey catches an armored car that weighs in excess of at least 55 THOUSAND pounds (That's over 27 tons) with Minimum effort. The second scan is self explanatory. Spidey's obviously a class 25 at the very least. He should be Luke's equal if not better when it comes to brute strength. However Luke seems to edge Pete when it comes to thicker skin. Simply put Cage is more durable while Spidey is as strong if not stronger then Cage. This logic needs to stop since that's like comparing Luke cage to Wonder woman (who is not bullet proof)

Spidey was pretty much owning the majority of the fight. He even says that Cage is fighting in the big leagues. Spidey landed at least 8 hits that clearly did some damage. Cage only landed like 4 hits which didn't even seem to rattle spidey that much, he's even still joking around as usual. You know what else is funny? the fact that Cage got owned by a spidey that wasn't even as strong as the modern one. When he was still young he could only lift 40x his body weight (but with ease). Nowadays Spidey can lift HUNDREDS (again with ease). So that would mean that Cage isn't the only one who's gotten stronger nowadays. That means that modern Spidey is at least 5 times stronger then classic spidey was. Jeez Pete really has grown over the years just like Stan Lee said he would. So this explains why Cage was even able to fight evenly with parker.

As far as I can tell Luke is constantly referred to as the tough guy while Pete is the nice guy that Holds Back constantly. Based on that alone Luke is more known for his durable skin more then he is for his strength. So I would think that a no holding back Spider-Man would be stronger.

This. Spidey has more extraordinary strength feats because he's starred in hundreds more comics.
