Who's the Worst?

Personally for me, it's Dodson. The art is so bad in his recent Uncanny X-Men that I refuse to buy it. Land has been vilified and scorned but at least I could make it through an entire issue without dry heaving.

Is Land really that bad of an artist? I hear people trash him a lot but I think these are some pretty damn good pictures.

@IrishX: Storm was obviously traced from a porn star in the throws of passion. Black Widow's head clearly came from a different body-model. The Goblyn Queen pose was again from some bad porn mag.

@Jake Fury: Personally, I think they're as bad as each other. We all know that Greg Land traces, but the Dodsons also make every single woman look identical. I hate both art styles.

This pretty much covers my feelings on the matter.

@IrishX: His covers are better than his interiors, although I have seen improvement lately.

I'm actually a huge fan of Dodson.To say his work is worst than that of someone who traces and clearly fails at anatomy is nuts to me but since the quality of art is opinion based I can't really argue with it.

Agreed that Land's covers are better than his interiors.

As for the whole porn star thing..... whatever I guess that's where X-Kitty's mind set is at. Also I have to take it as just a difference of opinion because I know shes a fan of Humberto Ramos for instance who I don't care for.

dont read the stuff Dodson does but im familiar with his stuff, but my god how could you compare his stuff to lands...he just BAD.

I'm not a Ramos fan, but I also don't particularly care for Bachalo or that whole style of art, either.

It has been discussed & proven that Greg Land has traced from porn magazines, and even Googled images to trace. There's absolutely NO need to insinuate that my mind is in the gutter, when all I did was point out the obvious & repeat known fact. There's also absolutely no need to insult my personal taste in artists.

Kitty, I didn't insult your personal taste just used him as an example of our different tastes. I'm sorry but I just don't see how me saying I don't care for him is an insult to you. Again it was intended as just an example of our different tastes.

ur probably using IE7 at work, for some reason the site no longer works with that browser, and the porn tracing/copy and paste is kinda common knowlege. i mean you could take 50 of his books and match 100's of the same poses and character designs in everybook to another.

I hate both. But at least with Land he copies decent artists and the colors aren't so bad. I always hate Dodson's art.

Alright, so I bought a comic 3-pack at Books-A-Million this weekend. It had Mighty Thor #1, Captain America #617 & UXM 535 for $5.99.

I find Dodson much, much more tolerable. And I assure you you're missing out on some really good issues, man. Land is terrible to me for all the reason that I'm sure you've heard already over the years. Dodson is the lesser of th two evils. He should learn how to draw more than one Woman at the very least. And he should never, ever be allowed to draw Namor. How either of them continue to get high profile work is beyond me. How either became the go to guys for current Uncanny writers is especially confusing when guys like Mike Choi set high standards on the book.

Emma Frost is Barbed wire...

Greg Land is ass...loafing lazy ass.

I got a few nit pick issue's with it but I really don't mind it. I'd venture as far as to say his art's good overall. Just not fit for every title or story. I think it works well with Gillen's writing right now on Uncanny. Comparing him to Land is rather insulting. He's the worst thing to happen to mainstream comic art since Rob "Never a big enough gun, never enough pouches" Liefeld.

It's a COMPLETELY different style of art, one that many people (myself included) aren't fond of.

I like Bachalo a lot of the time, but I am absolutely not a fan of that style of art.

I like Dodson's art. Land's not so much. I also like Ramos and Bachalo's art but I can understand why people don't like them.

I dislike both artists intently, but I guess I hate Land more. All I'll say is that the coloring is nice, but that's it.

I absolutely love Greg Land's work! It's awesome beyond belief. The dynamic action sequences he does are second to none and the emotion he imbues in the more narrative-driven stuff is really well done and understated. He could give the likes of Bachallo, Ramos and JRJR a run for their money any day. He captures the shape and form of women beautifully. Especially their glowing smiles!

Okay, before anyone succumbs to a rage-induced fit, I'm only joking. He sucks in every way imaginable and spoils X-Men for me. Does the above count as a positive troll btw?

Greg Land is the worse offender BY FAR!

he's a tracer! Everything he "draws" is stolen and looks exactly like it did when it was an underwear ad or a porn movie or scene from the Craft or whatever he stole it from

Terry Dodson just gives everyone the same face- men and women, children, black or white: doesnt' matter, they all look the same

but still.....Dodson > Land any day of the year!!!!!
