the title says it all. which guy do you prefer and why?

#2 Posted by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

I guess I'll start. I like superman more because he was always what I wanted to be as a little kid. I identify with him more than I do Thor. And tbh...the animated series did a great job of swaying me toward him. Superman is such a kind and gentle and morally strong person. The power to destroy planets Ina guy that would rather not have to use the powers at all.

Superman, I just find him more interesting.

Looked like Thor in my younger days. Now my 19 year old son does, so yeah him

#6 Posted by Crimsonlord53 (1305 posts) - - Show Bio

Thor.

Superman was always too much the Ideal person then anybody in the real world is.

Batman

#8 Posted by GodTriggerHulk (1998 posts) - - Show Bio

It's hard to think of one particular reason but I suppose that I enjoy Thor's powers and Viking panache. That and his noble yet fierce warrior spirit.

I like them equally, but they don't hold a candle to Martian Manhunter

#10 Posted by OrphanCrippler (206 posts) - - Show Bio

both suck, overpowered and boring, the usual top hero combo

#11 Posted by The_Thunderer (2894 posts) - - Show Bio

Love them both

Superman. Him being "idealised" is what makes him admirable from where I'm standing. I don't want to relate to my superheroes. That's what everyday real-life heroes are for. Not Superheroes. I want to look up to them.

But yeah, Thor is someone to be looked up to as well... Not just as high as Supes. Just IMO.

#13 Posted by WaveMotionCannon (5187 posts) - - Show Bio

Thor. Thor was always that dude to me big bad ass warrior who didn't have a problem whipping asses. I really got into him reading my cousins copies of Simonson's run and was hooked since more or less.

Superman, mostly because he's better.

Thor. He's more interesting.

#18 Posted by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@crimsonlord53: See to me that's kind of the point. Superman is supposed to be the symbol of hope and goodness for human beings. You see what I mean?

#19 Posted by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@dondave: I've always felt like MM was very unrelatable. Very cool. But very distant. What draws you to him?

#20 Edited by RulerOfThisUniverse (6154 posts) - - Show Bio

Superman by far. He's just a much more interesting character.

Thor. easily. Especially after the FANTASTIC storytelling by Jason Aaron recently.

#22 Edited by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@novi_homines: Please don't. Simmer down lol this isn't a battle it's just a forum for you to tell why you like one more than the other. Thor v supes battles always become contentious and this is not that

And where did I do otherwise? Lol don't get your panties in a bunch. I wasn't posting feats.

#25 Posted by Wolverine08 (38938 posts) - - Show Bio

The hammer helps in liking Thor too! Most badass weapon in comics!

#26 Edited by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@novi_homines: I jumped

The gun. When I saw "Thor EASILY" I thought you were doing the feat posting thing. Sorry :)

@wolverine08: You prefer Thor to Superman because you find his inanimate object to be ...likable?

.........

he crearly stated it as an addition to the reasons why he already likes thor.

#30 Posted by Wolverine08 (38938 posts) - - Show Bio

@rulerofthisuniverse: No, I was just saying that Thor's hammer was awesome. I just prefer Thor to Supes because I find Thor to be the more interesting person, and his mythological space adventures are extremely fun and captivating.

#31 Edited by novi_homines (1338 posts) - - Show Bio

@sog7dc: lol its no problem. I really like superman too. Its funny because the majority of my friends are dc fans, and they HATE superman. I'm more of a marvel guy, and i'm the only one usually sticking up for him.

Oh and don't get me started on how they thought batman would EASILY beat supes in the Batman/Superman movie.

thor.

Warrior spirit, not a boy-scout, trademark weapon, etc.

#34 Posted by sagejonathan (1825 posts) - - Show Bio

both suck, overpowered and boring, the usual top hero combo

I used to think the same way. Then I read their books.

I love both but I like Thor more because I started reading comics with one of his books so he will always hold a special place in my heart.

#35 Edited by Mega_spidey01 (3078 posts) - - Show Bio

superman because of villians like lex luthor & brainiac makes him more interesting. plus Man of steel blew away my expectations, makes me like him even more now.

#36 Edited by Lone_Wolf_and_Cub (4925 posts) - - Show Bio

Thor is more interesting and I like the fact that he isn't a goody goody. Not to mention he has some of the best runs in comics, Walt Simonson, Michael Stracyzinski and the great duo of Lee/Kirby. Nuff said.

#37 Posted by Lvenger (18465 posts) - - Show Bio

Superman definitely. Thor is great but Superman contains what is for me the perfect set of characteristics and symbolic meaning to be the epitome of a superhero and an ideal of humanity we can all strive towards.

#38 Posted by Doomnaut (1992 posts) - - Show Bio

Hercules!

#39 Edited by PokemonDefender (237 posts) - - Show Bio

Thor God of Thunder does make me like him a bit more.

#40 Posted by SOG7dc (6713 posts) - - Show Bio

@doomnaut: Lol I was waiting for @powerherc to do something like that

#41 Posted by WarBlade539 (4500 posts) - - Show Bio

Love them both. But I would choose Thor over Superman because I started reading Busiek's Avengers before I started reading any Superman comics. And I like Thor's powers more, the whole elemental side of him.

#42 Edited by Spideysense44 (3029 posts) - - Show Bio

Thor is more interesting and superman is more symbolic I'm a huge Thor fan so i got with Thor but remember Thor is really the god of thunder in mythology so he is symbolic as well

#43 Posted by kasino (1587 posts) - - Show Bio

Supes is far more interesting imo..his character just seems what a man with his powers who didn't want to rule the world would be

i do applaud the consistency of Thor's character though. He's a god prince. He's pretty much Namor who feel in love with these human things. If Atlantis was in another dimension and Namor got to come over and visit these new beings he'll be Thor. Same core guy who both seemed to be influenced by their environment.

#44 Posted by ColaNicole (574 posts) - - Show Bio

Superman. He is an example that no matter how bad things get you shouldn't give up, and, will try to find the good in someone no matter how bad their crimes.

#45 Edited by evilvegeta74 (4521 posts) - - Show Bio

Thor without a doubt! Been a fan of his stories since I was a kid!

That was a good one! Naturally, Hercules is better than Superman or Thor.

If I had to choose between Superman and Thor, I'd pick Superman but it's close. Superman doesn't rely on a weapon.

@darkazrael999: could you post scans of thor from the runs you listed so that i can see the art? if its not a bother?

Thor.

He's the God of freakin' Thunder, not some regular Man of Steel ;)
