Supergirl Series Coming to CBS

It's official. Supergirl now has a home on CBS. According to TVLine, CBS wants a series order for the 2015-16 season. The show is written by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg and stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, and Jeremy Jordan as Toyman.

Next Wednesday, CBS is expected to announce the tv slow for the show at their annual upfront presentation in New York.

CBS? That's pretty awesome!

Easily the upcoming Comics project i'm least excited for, can't wait for more titans news.

@mightymodok: Not fully sure I know what you mean. She did just recently play a high school student in GLEE. But she is supposed to be 24 on the show.

@drellassassin: Supergirl is a teenager in the comics and this actress is obviously in at least her mid-late 20's.

I'm some what excited for this but there is no way it lasts on CBS.

@smart_dork_dude: I don't think Supergirl will be in the same universe as Arrow/Flash considering it won't be on the CW.

DC's tv shows never seem to grab me. I was so pumped for Daredevil and watched the hell out of those episodes the day it came out. I have yet to get that feeling with a DC show, which is weird because I'm more so a DC fan than a Marvel fan.

I don't think Supergirl is needed. I prefer more grounded characters for TV.

CBS can keep a show around, but normally their shows are targeted at Adults who like procedural cops shows and drama. This show is better suited for the CW.

I'm actually really excited for this show.

Flash isn't grounded, and every time a normal person has faster reaction time than Flash I stop enjoying the show. Flash goes from running as fast as light to not being able to catch someone who turned a corner.

It will likely be even worse for Supergirl because she has speed AND power. She should be unstoppable, yet viewers are supposed to believe she is ever in actual danger.

@g_man: Sorry if I sounded offensive... What I meant was that it seems weird to me that the super is called Supergirl not Superwoman. In the comics she's a teenage so it kind of makes sense but in this she's a adult. Again - sorry if it came off wrong. :(

I'll wait for the trailer before passing judgement.

TBH, more excited for the Teen Titans show than this. I might still watch it, but I'm a season and a half behind on Arrow and I haven't even started the Flash yet.
