More so as a rag-tag group of "heroes" that aren't really heroes, with a comedic undertone.

They are a ragtag band of misfits on a mission. The basic premise of a million movies. After that there are really no similarities.

They have just enough similarities to be compared, IMO. Which is unfortunate.

One so in space, the other is grounded and knowing DC gritty. Expendables would a closer comparison, but even then you're pushing it.

Who are the members of the suicide squad that will be in the movie?

They're not that alike. Guardians are a bunch of misfits, yet they're good people, but Suicide Squad is a bunch of murderers.

I think for comic fans the comparison is there, but I don't see the general audience seeing the similarities much.

I can see what you mean but for me I don't think it's similar because the basis of GotG is that they are people who have had bad things happen to them thus becoming damaged individuals who reluctantly, at first, become a team through similar means. While Suicide Squad is compromised of homicidal super villains who are brought together because they've been brought to justice through the American Law System by being sent to prison and are being given a "second chance" through force and are threatened to solve situations they are placed in or die via bomb in the neck. The only real similarity is that both teams aren't very known to the general audience.

The fact they decided on it might be due to the success of GoTG, but the concepts are two different animals for a long list of reasons.

I doubt because Suicide Squad will most likely be rated R if done right

Especially with characters like Harley, Deathstroke, Manta, Waller, Deadshot, and Jokers' Daughter (she's wearing a mans' face. Doesn't get much more rated R than that.)

Assuming that's the cast. If they went with the Arrow crew, then perhaps PG-13.

David Ayer is known for making very serious movies (his new movie is rated R)and I don't see how they could possibly make it PG-13 with it's source material being a group of murderers violence and huge sexuality in it. Also the humor will be totally different it would most likely be dark humor.

@scouterv: I doubt Manta will not be in it, due to probably be the Aquaman film's antagonist. Joker's daughter is unlikely, due to her heavy connection to the joker (Harley is more capable of standing on her own).

Deadshot and Waller are definites due to their heavy connections to the suicide squad in media.

I get the whole GoTG is about ex criminals that join to save the galaxy.

The only way people confuse both is if they make the Squad a team of heroes or anti heroes, if they keep them as black ops, no one would think that.

If you didn't know Guardians was a comic book before you saw the movie, you probably thought it was a knock off of Star Wars. People don't get too caught up on that stuff.

I'd rather not see either crew. The new 52 & Arrow versions are laughable in comparison to Ostrander's group. That being said, it could be rated pg and still be very dark.

The leader of the team will be Deadshot, who is probably the most famous of the group. He has appeared in animated form (Justice League, Batman: the Brave and the Bold, Batman: Gotham Knight) and most recently showed up in Arrow. He’s best known for being an assassin that “never misses”.

The rest of the team includes:

Blockbuster: A large man with superhuman strength, stamina and endurance.

Multiplex: A supervillain with the ability to create multiple copies of himself.

Jaculi: He has super-speed, similar to The Flash, but can only move in three-second bursts. He also carries explosive javelins.

Mindboggler: A female telepath.

Harkness: Better known as Captain Boomerang. He uses a wide variety of gimmicked boomerangs.

Vixen: She has the ability to mimic any animal through the powers of a necklace. She can also heal.

Harkness and Vixen are said to be the co-leads of the film, which currently doesn’t have a release date or cast.

Wouldn't it be more comparable to Sinister 6; a team of villains as the leads of the movie.

If done right, with the right cast of characters and actors, it shouldn't be seen as a "copy-cat"

I just skipped to comment because the title said enough. Dude, just STAHP. Villains are unpredicatable, and have different m. o's.

Take Blockbuster out and put Bronze Tiger, then i am sold.

Also i dont see the reason to have Jaculi,Mindboggler and Multiplex.

X Men show telepaths arent interesting to see in screen and its tricky to use them.

No. The biggest Difference are the Guardians really are good people which is why you root for them. The Suicide Squad are just Bad People who deserve anything that happens to them who you kind of hate to root for.

i'd love to see vixen on the team.

I just hope they don't JLU her and make her have to tap/ depend on the totem.
