That is interesting to note:

Hiruzen=Minato=Kakashi (Leaders of each team and were all Hokages)

Jiraiya=Obito=Naruto (The "hopeless failures" of their teams, initially anyway. Both have an attraction to the female in their teams.)

Tsunade=Rin=Sakura (Medical Ninjas of their teams. While Rin and Sakura have clear attractions to Kakashi and Sasuke, Tsunade did say on one occasion that she'd rather go out with Orochimaru than Jiraiya.)

Orochimaru=Kakashi=Sasuke (The "geniuses" of their teams. They excelled highly in their training and they were each orphaned at some point.)

@princearagorn1@loki_d@andr413@noone301994@noone301995 What do you think of this observation?

Sure, they're all related.

Agreed. However, as the series progressed I always thought Sasuke and Naruto related more to Madara and Hashirama than to Orochimaru and Jiraiya.

I always saw Minato & Itachi as rare ninjas both were very skilled at a young age, futures looked promising, and widely known. Both were related to one of the main characters and were eventually surpassed. And the way they said goodbye was the same (edo tensei to spirit)

Probably because of the whole "descendants of the Sage" thing. Madara and Hashirama were never in the same team.

It was Tobirama who taught Hiruzen.

This picture (from right to left) should bring to light a pattern of mentorship:

And this one (from left to right):

The teams are all together (even though I view it as a trinity with Numbers 1,3, and 4):

And this one's just funny :p:

@iamoptimusprime: @princearagorn1: That picture can be interpreted another. Even though they failed with one student the others spread that same teaching. Hiruzen to Jiraiya, Jiraiya to Minato, and Minato to Kakashi so they were somewhat successful
