So my girlfriend almost ruined my comic collection

I had my comics moved into a drawer until I had my shelf setup. Well, the drawer was open and my girlfriend had put her coffee mug on top of it and knocked it over...

Yeah...

Anyway, only a few were ruined (and a couple novels, my World War Z and Rise of the Governor) but LUCKILY I had 90% of my comics in plastic bags to keep them safe during my last move.

I don't think he's shaming her so much as he feels bad about his loss and wanted to share it with comic fans who would empathize? At least that's the impression I got.

Either way, at least you had them bagged or it could've been worse.

You should have told her to not touch your comic books. You should have told her how important those are for you.

Some people don't know how valuable comics are and I am not saying just because that comic is worth a lot of money, but because some comics are special for us in an emotional way.

See, this is the problem with this thread: it runs a very real risk of becoming stupid. I'm not calling OP misogynistic because technically all he did was state the facts (though obviously there are ways you could have phrased it that were less blameful and more recognizing it was an accident). Anyone could have accidentally spilled into the open drawer. Heck, OP could have. It happens. It sucks, and you look back and know how it could have been avoided, but the idea of any kind of repercussion against this poor girl is just stupid and shame on the folks whose "dump her" or "make her pay" or any kind of remark on how careless she was were anything beyond complete tongue-in-cheek jokes (and even then, just remember, be careful how you say things on the Internet).

I'm sure she feels bad already. You should comfort her instead of being angry/annoyed at her :) Comics can be replaced.

@Dernman: Wow.... What is like to be that mean of a person? I'm sure it's pretty lonely..... But as long as you have your comic you should be alright.....

what you need to do is sulk and act really bummed out. then, milk her guilt for all it's worth. >:)

I was sitting in the living room when it happened. She went into the bedroom, I heard a bang, and then I heard her say "Ooooh nooooo"...

No, I'm not going to dump her. I love the girl. I wasn't blaming her anyways, it was an accident. I was just sharing what happened with my fellow comic fans because I think everyone on here can relate.

The IRONY of the situation is she helped me set up a special spot in the living room for them. It just so happened that the accident occurred the DAY they were ready to go up.

This majority of comments on this thread makes me glad the guys on The Big Bang Theory are "unrealistic."
