How can the living tribunal "die" anyway. I mean he is above the concept of life and death IMO. Marvel is seriously bullshitting with this story.

#4 Posted by AngryHulks (3001 posts) - - Show Bio

Maybe it'll be revealed later that is was a Skrull after all.

Oh Marvel, you never cease to amazes me...Even when I beg you to stop, you never do.

#8 Posted by LimpoyzLoan (1645 posts) - - Show Bio

Marvel's running out of ideas.

I thought the Watcher was a lot taller than that.....

Anyways, what's the context of this panel? Is that Tony?

Dafuq????????

#13 Posted by BullPR (740 posts) - - Show Bio

@heymanjack: ???

Could you tell us the origin of the scan please?

#14 Posted by BullPR (740 posts) - - Show Bio

@warlock360: Yep, I thought immediately about that.

In fact that would be pretty cool: a return of the classic Beyonder explaining that the one around since the end of SWII was in fact just an echo of the real deal.

But I doubt+++

Best case scenario, the scan from the OP is a fake...

It's from New Avengers and I'm a little hesitant to call BS on it because I have almost absolute faith in what Hickman has in store for us.

@norrinboltagonprime21: @bullpr: New Avengers 8. Something killed LT.

@veshark: Yes that's Iron Man

But.....But......The only thing that could kill LT is TOAA or the infinity gauntlet(I think)..... And neither make sense!

Why is the Watcher talking to Tony? Shouldn't he go to Reed first?

WTF!?!?!?!?

#18 Posted by BullPR (740 posts) - - Show Bio

@night_thrasher: Thanks. The new Hyperion is also from the New Avengers... I wanted to wait for the paperback but I may have to buy regular comics!!

(That would be the first time since more than 10 years...)

#19 Posted by dagmar_merrill (7863 posts) - - Show Bio

@veshark: The watcher is really short. Every time I have seen him he has been really short.

That's why this arc is gonna be total BS or the new Baddie will be super strong almost TOAA level.

What the hell?

I don't know, he usually seems taller, maybe it's just the angle:

#24 Posted by BullPR (740 posts) - - Show Bio

@heymanjack: killed or KO?

As stated above, LT is supposed to be outside the realm of Death.

@night_thrasher: I understand that you trust the writer and its scenario, but to be able to incapacitate the LT means either changing more than 30 years of Marvel history (coherence of the mythology of the abstracts etc...) , either introducing a new entity between TOAA and LT (and I'm not sure that I would like that).

No, the return of the full form of the Beyonder would be the only logical explanation, and I don't think for one second that it's possible.

(But I would really love that, I'm waiting for it since the end of the 80s!)

Yeah, that has because he's closer to the front. Even then he is to tall.

I understand what it means but Hickman for me is like Morrison is for others. He can go all the out into left field and I'm with him until the end. I'll decide after it's over if it's good or not not during or before.

you guys do realize that this is a prelude to INFINITY....think about it....INFINITY....Infinity Gauntlet....hmmmmm

you need to look at the Watcher's gallery...he is that tall all of the time

#31 Posted by BullPR (740 posts) - - Show Bio

@night_thrasher: Ok. I see your point.

@danhimself: another possible explanation indeed. But I thought Infinity would be about the "Builders"?

If it's a threat at this level (able to KO or kill LT) there is no room at all for the Avengers or anybody form one single planet (even Terra, how attached we are to our own planet).

Only the other abstracts (and probably all of them combined) could be involved for it to make any kind of sense.

New Avengers is the Illuminati book. So Namor, Iron man, Black Bolt, Reed, Beast, T'Challa, and Dr. Strange. Hyperion is in Hickman's other book just called Avengers. He's on the new team of Avengers, not the New Avengers the book. Just clearing that up.

The infinite gauntlet can only affect 616 universe, the LT is multi-verse.

#34 Posted by MaccyD (3939 posts) - - Show Bio

The Loeb force is a powerful thing indeed. It seems Hickman now understands its true power.

May somebody explain to me the Living Tribunal's powers? Why is it so shocking that he died?

#36 Posted by Veshark (9058 posts) - - Show Bio

May somebody explain to me the Living Tribunal's powers? Why is it so shocking that he died?

He's apparently the representative of the One-Above-All (essentially God in the MU).

#37 Posted by MaccyD (3939 posts) - - Show Bio

@wolverine08: Googled it, he's the second most powerful thing in MU and only capable of being defeated by his master: The One Above All (Basically he's the big,big,big boss in the MU, he rules over the multiverse)

He's second only to god himself.

He is above everything else in existence.

#39 Posted by dondave (35988 posts) - - Show Bio

This is a classic case of defeating a powerful character to show that the enemy actually pose a threat

#40 Posted by SheenLantern (6453 posts) - - Show Bio

@dondave:

Yes, but we're not talking about regular powerful characters like Galactus or Eternity, this is the Living Tribunal, the dude doesn't just keel over and die just like that.

Iron Man and Watcher found his body on the moon. That is really all that was shown.

It's Hickman, it was always going to suck.

#50 Edited by dondave (35988 posts) - - Show Bio

Unless TOAA suddenly decided to become evil I don't see how this is even possible considering his role in the MU, unless Beyonder or Molecule Man are coming back
