SM Trilogy vs ASM Movies Tournament

12 years ago, Sam Raimi released a blockbuster film, Spider-Man (2002) - it was basically a masterpiece around the time of it's release, receiving world wide acclaim: and it was a financial success, staring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. Two years ago, SM2 (2004) was released - it was much better then the original - followed by 2007's SM3... which wrecked the franchise, but completed the trilogy.

Then - years passed, and SM4 had been cancelled, and an 'Untitled Spider-Man Reboot' had been announced - with Marc Webb directed, and Andrew Garfield cast as Peter Parker. The reboot, titled "The Amazing Spider-Man", had been released in 2012 - had received mixed reviews - and then followed by 2014's TASM2... which wasn't as well received as it's predecessor by critics.

There's both really good Spider-Man adaptions, with their own pros and cons - the old films got stuff over the new ones, and the new ones got stuff over the old one. But likewise, they're both good in their own ways. So in this tournament, we'll be comparing specific segments and aspects of the film - which ever side (be it old or new) receive 10 votes - we'll move onto the next aspect. Have fun, feel free to discuss, and share opinions. First, we'll be comparing... Kirsten Dunst's MJ and Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy - the love interests:

Gwen Stacy was a 3-Dimensional, independent character, with her own arcs such as moving to England - and even coming to save Peter's live at times, whilst Mary Jane Watson was more of a damsel in distress, someone for Peter Parker to save, someone to look at him in awe, but, well, she still had her moments. For you newbies (and I doubt there are any, Lol), web shooters are a comic book classical, introduced in Amazing Fantasy 15 (Spidey's first appearance) - built by Peter Parker himself - and for his own use - the web shooters are a sort of liquid that solidifies by air - spinning a tensile cable... for Spidey to swing off, of course - and construct all sorts of objects - be it a web-parachute or a web-shield.

These pair of web shooters weren't incorporated in 2002's Spider-Man - instead, Peter Parker spun webs from his bear wrists (well... at least he didn't spin them from his but) - and this was received by, well, mixed reactions at best.

In the 2012's TASM, Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker built his own web-shooters (the fluid which derived from OsCorp), spinning a tensile bio-cable. So which did you prefer? Organic Webs or the Web Shooters? Vote away!

I'm gonna be so biased on this tournament. I hate almost everything about ASM

Alright... although I'd appreciate if you vote constructively. I prefer almost everything from ASM over the Spider-Man trilogy (so, admittedly, I'm kinda biased too... Lol). I COMPLETELY understand if you prefer everything over the old trilogy, but if there's a single aspect you like on the new films - please attempt to not be bias.

I agree 100% with Gwen winning. But, I've always preferred Gwen, even when I was a kid reading the comics.

As for the webs- gotta go with the Web Shooters. Shows Peter's ingenuity & innate scientific skill.

Nope. It tries to hard. I hate convoluted origins about destiny and "my parents had secrets", it just gets way to stupid.

What?... What destiny? It wasn't anymore convulted then Batman Begins.

I never watched the first one but I went to go see the 2nd one. I hate almost every actor in this movie, except Giamatti and Fox but I hated the characters they played and how they were presented. I especially hate how I felt bad for Electro for being such a loser and gets killed at the end because the accident made him angry. It's not like MoS where Zod deserved it, I felt bad for the dude and was pissed when he died in the end.
