Yes but its not happening anytime soon
@xxxddd: Cause I want to see Hulk vs Wolverine on the big screen and a Spidey/Daredevil team up movie
@tupiaz: So we just need Spidey back and we're half way there
If they're willing to pay for it. Then again will we get more Spider-Man movies if Marvel gets him back? More X-Men? I dunno. I think for the next few years Marvel needs to focus on their Avengers-centric movie universe. In the next decade or so I could see them branching out more.
I don't mind the rights of different characters being with different companies. It allows more movies to be produced in a shorter period of time because the different studios can devote more time and resources to the individual projects than Marvel could for all at once.
Also, I don't think the entire Marvel U needs to be in a shared cinematic universe. It works in comics because there are a lot of ongoing monthly titles and it is easy to weave characters in and out. Movies take a couple years to produce and from start to finish and only have 2+ hours to put out a complete story or have a sequel continue the story two years later. I enjoy there being an Avengers franchise, X-Men franchise, Spider-Man franchise, FF, etc. There are enough great stories for the individual characters/teams that they don't need to cross over in a shared universe.
I would prefer that Fox, Sony and Marvel produce quality movies simultaneously than just have Marvel try to force out each and every character.
@xxxddd: Yea but I want to see it live action and uninterrupted
@Cap10nate: Honestly if they could just work out a deal where we could get a Spidey/Daredevil movie going I wouldn't care who got paid for it
@xxxddd: I'm guessing Hulk going on their comic stats Wolvie has won once against the less powerful Grey Hulk but most of the time Hulk wins
No.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't a big enough place for both the Avengers and the X-Men and Marvel won't be able to make a DD with the right tone without it being "Spider-Man lite"
@xxxddd: Exactly. So it would have to be a slow process over several years. If they get the FF back they could try incorporating them into phase 3 or something. Then lets say the next two Spider-Man movies don't do well maybe Marvel could then purchase him back.
Yes, but it's their own fault they don't as they needed the money and now they want to get out of a deal
@xxxddd: I know I'm just saying I think Hulk won

@PrinceIMC: But you think Marvel should get the rights back?
I'm kinda torn. I think they should eventually but to get them back they're going to have to pay for them. And in order to pay for them it's going to take a number of years. And over those number of years they're going to have to learn to weave them all together and not just focus on the Avengers characters. Right now they're making like 2 movies a year. If they're going to do all these characters justice they're going to have to continue to grow the studio so they could put out the 4 or 5 movies a year we're getting now by various studios.
Do I want them back yes, can they get them back probably not.
Spider-man - Don't see song letting go of that franchise seeing as it's making them a lot of money.
X-men - Fox are putting their efforts into creating a shared universe for the x-men so I can't see them letting that property go.
Fantastic Four - New movie in 2015 so it will be at least until 2024 that the rights will revert back, and thats assuming the reboot flops and they don't reboot.
Punisher - That could come back by 2017 if another movie isn't made, but who wants to see another one of those movies.
I wish MARVEL Studios had all their chracters in-house, they could really do some cool stuff with the F4 characters (Surfer/Galactus), now that they are going to be exploring the cosmic side of there stories with Guardians of the Galaxy and Thanos.
Should they?
No, they sold them. Either they buy them back or wait for the contracts to expire (like what happened to Daredevil).
Do I want them to?
Depends on the characters. I'd be thrilled if Marvel/Disney had Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and Silver Surfer back, but I could care less about the X-Men and Ghost Rider. Fox (aside from X3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine) seem to have a good handle on that franchise, and after the last two Ghost Rider movies, I almost never want to see that character on the big screen ever again.

Punisher is already back at Marvel/Disney. It was announced either last year or the year before.

@PrinceIMC: Marvel doesn't have the money to buy back all of their characters otherwise they would've brought them back by now.
@joshmightbe: Same here. Do you know who won that fight?
Marvel is owned by Disney they can buy anything they choose, they need to buy back the rights to Xmen and or related characters and do a reboot of that, as well as the FF, and Silver Surfer.
@evilvegeta74: Disney is waiting for rights to lapse, some of these companies don't have very much time to do something with these characters before the rights go back for free. If for instance fox doesn't put Elektra in a movie in the next 2 years at some point her rights revert back.
If they pay for them. They licensed them out, it's business.
@joshmightbe: Thats great news! I'm so sick of the X related movies, they are so far from source material. I'd love to see a reboot such as Uncanny Xmen , non Fox related.
@evilvegeta74: X-men will be a while. With the next sequel and the new Wolverine coming out it'll be at least a decade before the rights go back to Marvel

Thats a real shame there's a lot of potential there!
@evilvegeta74: X-2 was good and First Class wasn't terrible

this^
Also,I want to see the other companies build the movies up and then MARVEL can buy the characters back later.I'm not waiting,so I just picture them (not really counting XMEN,only wolverine) in the same universe anyway.

What you talking about? Marvel still owns Hulk and other heroes.
They don't own all of them.

Google is fairly easy to use.
True that, but providing evidence for a claim when originally making said claim is much easier.
It made perfect sense to sell off the rights at the time, but with Marvel Films now established they are better off taking these rights back (within reason) and expanding the Marvel Cinematic U on their own.
Depends on what you mean by "should." If you mean should Marvel buy the rights back, then sure, that'd be cool. If "should" means that they should just get the characters because they're Marvel characters and they have some sort of right to them, then no. They sold the rights, they're not theirs anymore. That's how capitalism works.
So Marvel doesn't have Fantastic 4, Elektra, X-Men, Spiderman, and Ghost Rider? I wish they would at least have the rights for Silver Surfer, or maybe Fantastic 4 and all the characters involved in it.
That pretty much answers the question... They sold the rights... One can't simply undo a sell...@Timandm said:
@xxxddd: Did they 'sell' the rights to some of their staple characters?Yes. Go here.
@roboadmiral: I mean "should" as the latter. The characters were still created by Marvel and should always be owned by Marvel.
