Why the hell does it matter? What? Reboot bad, Sequel good? Geez people are fickle.
Well its better than them trying to redoo something thats already great. but i see yor point.
Yes!!
@the_stegman: For me it's just that I wanted a continuation of Predators.

Even if Predators was in its continuity, I doubt they'd use the same characters, the Predator films usually reference the previous movie, but have different people, like Predator 2.
@the_stegman: Sequel is good because I liked Predators (the last movie).

See above comment. The Predator films don't tie into each other that much anyway, in actuality, each one is a small reboot. Predator 2 only mentions the first one, and Predators I believe mentions it too, but each film has different actors and leading men.

@the_stegman: But Predators really expanded on the whole mythology, introducing different castes and tribes, even different sizes of Predators. That stuff would just become non-canon to a new reboot.
@the_stegman: Its just better to know that everything else happened in the same universe. Not because of characters or anything. Its to see the universe expand even more with new characters and predators.
*Cough* AVP3 *Cough*
*Cough* HELL NO *Cough*

Eh, there is differences. A reboot might try to change things as reboots do....like the look of the Predator or what they do or why they hunt who they usually hunt. A sequel, done by Shane Black of all people will definitely be akin to what has happened in the previous films.

They usually change a lot of aspects just so they can claim that it's a proper reboot. Also, Predators have become sorta like urban legends due to the first film and it usually speeds up knowledge of them (so they don't rehash details from the earlier films too much).

I say one more chance to make it right. Complete Reboot. No humans involved. Just Predators on a planet hunting Aliens. No words needed let their actions do the talking.
@thecheesestabber: A good writer/director is more important than premise, even a great idea can be ****ed up by an incompetent writer/director.

Ridley Scott On Directing
Clive Barker and Christopher Yost Written Script
(Good fight scenes, character work, and the ability to write true horrific and claustrophobic terror)
JJ. Abrahams produce it
Setting could be in a cave system, as well as the Predator home planet.
The movie needs to capture the fear that the first Alien movies did and the culture that The Predator comics have

Here's what I think of your idea.

You want more of the same AVP?
@nickthedevil: A new take can work. The old comics were alright, and helped delve into the Predator history and culture
Don't want anymore AVP period.
They need to just be on the planet showing an Blooded predator do hunting missions against random aliens and maybe even a small xenomoprh infestation (if they can do it right this time) while in a group of young bloods. Then at the end of the movie they should show the blooded predator become an elite after he does a badass solo mission and then they show him leading a group of predators to earth. Then they can expand on it in a sequel.
But they need to have this movie where its just predator back story and predator missions showing their rankings and all the things they have killed and come across and fighting eachother for honor/rankings. Im tired of them making the predator movies center around humans each time. There needs to be a movie where its just predators on their planet going around being badass.

I reboot would have been great, but a sequel sounds better, it would cool if Arnold made an appearance.
