  • Do you consider yourself a comic book enthusiast, a person who is "in the know" about comic books and comic related memorabilia? Are you up on the latest comic book news and content? How'd you like to make money ... in comics?

No, this is not one of those multi-level marketing scams, or one of those jobs you find in the comments of YouTube videos-it's a real opportunity to work part-time, from home in comic books and comic related memorabilia for a new online service called FyndIt.

FyndIt helps connect people who want stuff like comic book memorabilia, with people who know where to find it. The Finders earn monetary rewards for finding and matching the wanted items.

Sounds obvious, right? How many times have you searched for that missing issue from your comic collection or wanted to purchase a sold-out limited edition statue of your favorite character and just couldn't find it? And it's driving you crazy! So crazy, that if someone told you where to get it, you'd gladly reward them. Perhaps you are the person who has the gift of tracking stuff down and have spent countless hours helping your buddies shop for hard to find items at good deals, only to have them...forget to thank you?

Well, that's what FyndIt is all about. Since we are a brand new service, we need someone like you to help us get started! FyndIt is looking for a Comic Memorabilia Community Manager. The main task of the Community Manager is to recruit early adopters who specifically collect comic book, fantasy and science fiction memorabilia to test the FyndIt service. You would be in charge of connecting the memorabilia community with FyndIt by helping them use the site and working with them to find ways to improve the service.

Some of the things you'll be expected to do are:

  • Connect with comic book/science fiction/fantasy fans and show them how to use FyndIt to track down comics, statues, action figures, toys, collectibles, etc.
  • Work with us to make sure the memorabilia community is well served by FyndIt. This includes making sure FyndIt knows about their problems, and making sure they know what we're doing about them.
  • Connect with memorabilia collectors and vendors who can locate stuff, and get them to find things people are looking for, or even to just post interesting stuff that they think people might want.
  • Since you're a comic book aficionado, we'll expect you to promote FyndIt within the comic community (without being obnoxious about it, of course). Where you find them is up to you, but we'd expect you to hit up fan sites, forums, groups and every other online resource you can imagine.
  • You'll work with the team to create weekly blog posts about comic books, action figures, statues, toys and collecting memorabilia. These are not just promotional blog posts; we believe that any content about comics is good content to share with our growing community.
  • If things work out, we might ask you to help set up contests where we'd award a one-of-a-kind or valuable comics or comic memorabilia to lucky FyndIt members.
  • And if things go really well, we might sponsor you to go to a local, regional, or national ComicCon or similar gathering to promote Fyndit.

This is a part-time gig that you can do on your own schedule, and you can do it at home.

Of course, we can't hire just anyone to be our Comic Community Manager, so there are a few job requirements:

  • You need to be an avid collector or fan of comic book/science fiction and/or fantasy memorabilia.
  • You need to belong to online comic book/science fiction/fantasy groups, fan sites and forums.
  • If you've previously had experience engaging with customers -- online or offline -- that's great.
  • You'll be working offsite from FyndIt, so you'll need to be self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • You'll be FyndIt's "face" to the world of comics, so we'll expect that you'll be able to get along with people of all kinds.
  • You'll need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively both online and offline.
  • You'll be able to participate in 1:1s with your manager, or occasionally even company meetings, depending on our mutual schedules.

This is a part-time telecommute contract position, and it's OK with us if you have a "day job". We'll expect you to work between 10 and 16 hours per week.

If you have comic cred, a positive attitude and can connect well with others online, we'd love to hear from you. Send me a PM if you are interested in applying for the position and I can forward you additional details.

We help people find stuff.
