Sad deaths in anime/manga
Jiraiya's death damn near brought me to tears. Nothing else really comes close to me.
@the_stegman: Agreed. Whenever Iruka shows up be prepared to grab some tissues.
There is no beating this one. I still find it hard to breathe, just remembering.

I can't even watch it.

this :( ... now you made me remember Jiraiya again
Kamina from Gurren Laggan :(
Jiraiya's death was the saddest in Naruto, and one of the saddest manga period. It's the only death in the series that really meant something. Everyone else either got Edo Tensei and plenty of closure dialogue or a post-reveal (Gaara's mothers' love). Jiraiya isn't around to guide Naruto anymore. He just has to think about the right things to do and...believe it (dattebayo)
Well I can't find a video or provide scans atm but when Ryu Jose (Still gravely injured) from Mobile Suit Gundam crashed into Crowley to save Amuro from dying as well as destroying Gundam, Earth Federations only hope, it moved me as a kid. He was a mentor to all the cadets and gave himself up like that. He was only 17-18 too.
Orson the berserker- Record of Lodoss War
Spike- Cowboy Bebop
Saito- Zero no Tsukaima
off the top of my head there are a lot more.
Grave of fireflies for sure ):
Also PIPPIN NOOOO!
Havent finished anime lol right. Still know the ending.
When Goku sacrificed himself to port Cell off Earth when he went to self-destruct, the small speech he gives Gohan really shows you the type of man Goku is. I thought it was good, my wife actually cried.

First thing that came to mind was Vegeta's first death. It was far more impactful than any other death in the series, largely because at the time I still foolishly thought death meant anything at all. He was a badguy right? No way they'd wish him back!
@sentryman555: damn it man why did ya have to post that one and who put all these onions in my room.
@jeepeh: Well, i am also waiting for the same, it could be in this week's chapter [ a low probability] or at the 600th chapter of Bleach Kubo will reveal Grimmjow [ a crack theory].
Another death in Bleach which had me more shocked and sad was this one. He died standing, in an ironic way.
It was quite impactful and sad, the way Yhwach desecrated and destroyed his body.
@sentryman555: I never had it in me to post that link or watch it, a tear jerker and a heart breaker. That one. Good choice.
@rithik: @primebonnick: I hadn't seen it in awhile. I forgot how sad it was until I posted it haha
@rithik: I assume you're referring to the explosion in the air. I highly doubt it's Ichigo, it's kinda early for Ichigo to show up and solve everything. Plus I can't see Ichigo killing 4 girls. So that leaves, the fullbringers and Ganju, or Urahara's crew with Grimmjow. And Grimmjow has no beefs with ripping women to shreds. xD
Aw yeah. Yamamoto. :'( Shunsui's face at that made me sad. Even Soi Fon got emotional over it. I never expected to see that expression on her face
i find the lack of... EVERY SINGLE DEATH (but gendos) in neon genesis evangelion extremely disturbing.
MAJOR SPOILERS
Misato in EOE, kaworu in 3.0, asuka being utterly torn to pieces in eoe, jesus christ the entire human race in eoe...
rei in the original series directors cut
@comedy_brosusa: @granitesoldier: @primebonnick: @buttersdaman000: @rithik: @sentryman555: @jeepeh: @movieartman: @banestrokelobogrundybatarrow: He saddest death is the going merry even if merry wasn't actually a human when it died it really hit me hard. What made it worse was what led up to the death. Ussop getting beat up fighting luffy leaving the crew. In fact behind the arc were ace and whitebeard died water 7 is the saddest one piece arc. And one of the saddest arcs in manga/anime history. Merry wasn't just a ship she was a nakama, a true friend and she will be remembered. Rest In Peace Merry
@alakemega123: No lie i felt merry's funeral that was some sad shit
the feels man the feels.
@primebonnick: watching that video just made me cry
@movieartman: Yeah, Eva (original and rebuild movies) had some of the best character buildup for some of the saddest character deaths in anime. Kaworu's death in the original Evangelion (it was EoE, right?) was also just as sad as in 3.0 considering in both Shinji was the reason for his death, but in EoE he had to kill him with his "own hands". I didn't see Masato's death in EoE coming and seriously shuddered in shock for minutes after the scene was over.
Menma from the original naruto was a huge tear jerker, he was a bad guy that tried to make up for what he had done by sacrificing himself to save a village he has terrorised in the past
He was only around for a couple of episodes but it was still really upsetting, I cried real man tears that day.
Also, the tears came when Jiraiya died, to his former students no less.
