Richest in Marvel might be Tony, I think Bruce is the richest in DC though. Wasn't there a Forbes list of wealthiest fictional characters? Bruce and Tony were on there.
I dunno if Pete's the poorest... I think some of the Morlock's can be counted as heroic? I'd say they're poorer than Pete. I could be wrong on the Morlock's count though. Besides, is this really a battle?

Poorest probably Rorschach and richest ... I would say Bruce Wayne. Someone has to pay regulary for the damage the Justice League is caussing and he still seems to have more then enough money to spare on his toys.
Wouldn't Vandal Savage be pretty high on the DC list? From reading about other immortal characters, they always seem to eventually amass a vast fortune, and Savage has had a looong time to get his money straight...lol
And also has anyone ever mentioned Dr. Strange's wealth? Seems like he could also sneak into the runnings... Could just be me though...
Bruce and Tony tops the list of wealthy heroes Demolition Man and Booster Gold will be the poorest. (remember Booster eating out of a can in a sleezy motel at one point in 52)

Don't think so, at least I don't think its what the OP is going for.
Tony and Bruce on one side (I think Tony is richest of them all) Peter or D Man would be. I mean Peter is quite poor, but not that poor. I don't know much about D Man though.
Personally I think the Black Panther is the richest hero around(after all he IS not just a hero but the official ruler of his own country),closely followed by Tony Stark, the late Janet Van Dyne (Wasp), Simon "Wonder Man" Williams and Ben "The Thing" Grimm.
Ra's Al Ghul and Vandal Savage must be pretty high on the list. I think it'll be down to either Stark or Wayne...but then I think of Wayne sponsoring JLA and Batman Inc., and that makes me vote for Batman.
are we counting "richest" and "poorest" by monetary wealth? what about "rich" as having everything that counts in life : health, happiness, family, serenity of being? and "poornesss" as : absolute misery, slavery, illness, etc. let's see what responses we get to that!!!

Well, Asgardians don't really put a emphasis on wealth, he's specifically mentioned that the vast asgardian treasury stopped having meaning to them centuries ago. So he might be or he might not even care enough to collect treasures, or just throw it into the asgardian treasury.
Wolverine, Professor X, Angel, Emma Frost, and Storm aside do any of the X-men have any actual money or jobs or does the team just foot all their bill because if so they're all pretty poor
