Would anyone be interested if classic comic stories was remade by a different artist/art style? It follows the same storyline by the original writer but is interpreted by a different artist. Even using the same script that the original artist was given.

What do people think of this? Could it provide interesting new interpretations, make some stories now readable for you etc? Or does it taint the original, is pointless etc?

Eh. I'm not against re-colorings, like the Killing Joke. I actually liked some of the updated colors for Sandman.

But I draw the line at colors. It should remain the same artist and same writer.

Plus, in the case of some older stories, the old art and colors are part of its charm.

I think Days of Future Past should be redone.

I'm sure it was great at the time but I really don't think it holds up. At least I didn't care for it.

That would cause Walking Dead to lose its charm.

I also wouldn't want to see V for Vendetta re-colored.

I'd be more in favor of making new stories.

@nickthedevil: @jedixman: Didn't they colour Walking Dead for an anniversary issue?

Yeah. But that was a special release, not an actual re-release. As far as I know, they are not planning to recolor the entire series.

They should make new stories. It's more interesting, if inwould want to read an old story i would read the old story, not a remake of it

Thigs were the way they were, not the way we want or wish.

That is why life is actually great.

V for Vendetta was originally Black and White, it does kind of suit it I think, but I'm still more used to colour as that was how I first saw it.

In most cases the art is almost as iconic as the original story itself.

Spider-Man: Blue is pretty much a remake of some of the stories from the Lee/Romita run of The Amazing Spider-Man. I like it, but I don't necessarily want to see more remakes. Some of my favorite story arcs, such as The Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, and End of the Green Goblin are just fine the way they are and don't need to be remade.

I couldn't imagine Age of X drawn differently. A lot of what made that story was Mann's outstanding line work. Classics like The Dark Phoenix Saga wouldn't go over well for me.

I would prefer to just create new stories rather than remaking older stories because part of the charm of the older stories is that you get to see how the characters were like before they went through so many changes over the years. If you remake an older story, then you would lose the history of those characters and their original comic book runs.
